Anyone going to see them this weekend?
I've heard good things about their show, but I'm having a hard time getting into their album (The Runners Four).
And apparently the Black Cat show is non-smoking. That must be a first. I kinda wanna go just to experience a smoke-free Black Cat…

I'm heading to the Ottobar tonight. I wish that place was non-smoking. I find that I always smell the smokiest leaving there.

Maybe. I'm toying with the idea of seeing Deerhoof after the Colin Meloy show. I think it's possible to see both shows. The headliner at Black Cat shows on Fridays doesn't usually go on until around midnight. I think the Colin Meloy show starts at 8pm or 8:30?

I think you can make it no problem…if I were in town, I'd be doing the same for Colin/Robert Pollard.

The Black Cat show is non-smoking at the artist's request, so there's a chance that the Ottobar show will be non-smoking as well.

I went to a show at the Birchmere bandstand this past week. Times were:
6 Doors
7:30 Opener
9:00 Headliner
10:30 Headliner was done.
I'll bet it's somewhat similiar for this show.

Thanks!
http://www.birchmere.com/calendar/calendar_list.cfm confirms 6pm doors and 7:30 opener, so it definitely looks possible.

I'm pretty sure the Ottobar is always nonsmoking in the stage area, with smoking allowed at the bar area in back. It's been that way all the times I've been there at least over the last year or so.

christ, Deerhoof are one of my favorite bands; but I actually couldn't figure out transportation for this show, because I only know like two other people that like Deerhoof. so everyone who is going…please enjoy, have a good time on my behalf, and post a review when it's Sunday.

thoughts? what did people think of the openers? i thought the dance group was great, but i think the show as a whole would have been better at a place like the warehouse…

I thought the dance troupe was mega-pretentious, but I enjoyed the films they showed prior to Deerhoof hitting the stage. Did they show those in DC?
As for Deerhoof, they get better everytime I see them…
