Worst support band ever!

Mank's on a roll today with his topic starting. (just thought of another one so watch out!)

Primal Scream opened for Waterboys at DAR. Oh my fucking god! I honestly thought it was a piss-take, until I realised the idiots on stage were actually taking themselves seriously.

Manic Street Preachers opened for Oasis at Nissan…never did understand what all the hype was about with that shite.

The poor girls last night, Slumber Party, are up there too, and I'm not just saying that because it's still fresh in my mind.
I'm in agreement about Slumber Party. I don't know what B&S sees in them.

My pick for Worst support band/act ever goes to: The poor anonymous girl who opened for The Strokes/Kings Of Leon show at UMBC a few weeks ago. Talk about a bad call–this poor girl with a Casio keyboard singing these perplexingly disjointed songs and telling the audience to go 'UGH, America!, UGH, America!' :(
Mindless Self Indulgence opening for Punk Rock Karaoke at the old Black Cat.
Peaches and Gonzalez opening for Elastica.
The guy who opened for Sigur Ros at the Lincoln Theater

The guy who opened for Cat Power at 9:30

The two bands that opened for BJM and The High Strung at the Mojo
the woman who opened for Paul Weller at the theater (Lincoln?) on U St in 97/98
The Pleased, who opened for Arthur Lee and Love just last week. The memory of their set only gets uglier as the days go by.

Guiny, you got the wrong thread. Surely you meant to put that in the best support bands ever thread. They were a hoot. I hated elastica.

they werent that bad. The Canada song was pretty dire, but I bet if they played blackcat they would be ok. not that I would go, of course.
I saw Butt Trumpet open for someone at the old club. I forget who. God they were terrible.

"Butt Trumpet"!!! Come on….with a name like that what were you expecting?
planet rockers opening for morrissey in 1991

us maple opening for pavement in 1999 (or thereabouts).
The Demolition Doll Rods opening for the Blues Explosion. The first band I see at my first show at the 9:30 Club. Terrible.

We were expecting very little. We got even less.

Second place goes to Wrathchild opening for the Ramones at the Wax Museum in '84. Big-hair lite-metal band. First time I ever saw a band have beer thrown at them. They certainly deserved it.
Citizen Bird opening for Luna at the Black Cat last year. Every person in the crowd had his/her ears plugged.
I have seen tons of bad support bands, mostly I dont remember their names. One band that can always get me to leave the area instantly though is Dead Meadow.
