Bossa Nova cicra the 60's

Looking for Bossa Nova recommendations from the 60's along the lines of Sergio Mendes and Brazil '66…
Why from the 60's only. Anyway, have you tried Soul Bossa Nova by Quincy Jones? Also try Lalo Schifrin. Have you tried Prozak For Lovers?
someone made the request that i mix in a little brazil 66' etc with other 60's stuff… actually i checked soul bossa nova out because it's on the austin powers soundtrack…
Esquivel is a good one for Spacey kitsch. Also try SEKS BOMBA. Another kewl lounge band is Oranj Symphonette which features some of Tom Waits band with other sessioners.

There are a lot of others, but I'm familiar with the above artists. Good hunting!
Where's Bossa Thirsty Nova when we need him?

Dude, put the pipe away and get back to work. :D
Kozzie, you've forgotten one of the most important bossa albums to come out of the 60's…. Getz/Gilberto! Also, Astrud Gilberto has a good comp out on Verve that's a greatest hits of sorts. Her song Agua De Beber is fantastic. It sounds exactly like what you're looking for. Let's see, a few other names… Edu Lobo, Antonio Jobim, Walter Wanderley, Baden Powell, etc.

A great compilation to check out is Nova Bossa put out by Verve. It includes most of the aforementioned artists plus a fantastic Elis Regina track titles Aguas De Marco.

Dupek, good call on Quincy Jones "Soul Bossa Nova". A good movie to watch is Black Orpheus. That's what pretty much set the stage for Bossa in the States.
Oh, and Jag, thanks for the nod ;)

thanks thirsty i knew you were the go to man on bossa nova… i'm hunting stuff down via emusic and i found a couple of your recommendations! :D
an indie movie from a few years ago, "next stop wonderland" has a soundtrack heavy on bossa nova. its also a great film too. even more if you're from boston.
on a more modern spin, a lot of the acts signed on dc's own esl label are bossa nova influenced–nicola conte, some of thievery corp's stuff, some of the esl compilations, and ursula 1000.
