Who were Mudhoney again?
from sonicks favorite site, all music -
Nirvana may have been the band that put an entire generation in flannel, and Pearl Jam and Soundgarden both sold a lot more records, but Mudhoney was truly the band who made the '90s grunge rock movement possible. Mudhoney was the first real success story for Sub Pop Records; their indie-scene success laid the groundwork for the movement that would (briefly) make Seattle, WA, the new capital of the rock & roll universe; and they took the sweat-soaked and beer-fueled mixture of heavy metal muscle, punk attitude, and garage rock primitivism that would become known as "grunge" to the hipster audience for the first time, who would in turn sell it to a mass audience ready for something new. Though Mudhoney never scored the big payday some of their old-running buddies did, their importance on the Seattle scene cannot be underestimated, and their body of work â?? big, loud, purposefully sloppy, a little bit menacing, and even more funny â?? has stood the test of time better than their well-known colleagues.

I have an album (for $1) yellow with green writing. I cannot get through it. Is that a mistake on my part?

Well, except for the $1 that you lost.

A slight difference of opnion then, would either of you care to argue your case?

:D
I can argue my case on Mudhoney here:
In early 1991 a friend introduced me to Mudhoney and let me borrow thier Superfuzz Bigmuff tape. I was into more metal and punk stuff (Suicidal Tendendcies, DRI and that kind of stuff) but this was a little better. The same kind of energy, but a whole different feel to me. Anyway, it paved the way for the non thrash-type variety of music for me and then before i knew it, grunge was everywhere and it went from Mudhoney to Nirvana to Radiohead and went on from there.
Basically, what i am saying is, its kind of nostalgia for me to go to the show. I dont know if i would like them if i had just heard them recently…kind of like Soul Asylum :)
They have a 2CD Best of kind of thing thats very good, kind of sums up thier short recording career.

GGDubya, you don't have to go out of your way to prove that you are an antagonist. We already know that.
I'm entitled to an opinion just as well as you are. You can take your Mudhoney and roll around in paroxysms of delight until you cum all over yourself for all I care. Just don't expect me to not have my own opinion, regardless of whether or not it aligns with yours. Not all of us are your little obedient sheeple nor have any plans of ever being. Maybe that's what threatens you so darned badly that you have to always pick on others so that your own warped ego feels just a bit better.

Lighten up. I like your screeds. They're great fun.

The smiths were my personal entry into real music. I find it hard to listen to them now. Too many bad memories, ohh move away.

Mudhoney to Nirvana to Radiohead to The Music

wasn't too impressed with mudhoney, even after i revisited them after "our band could be your life". still my least favorite in there.

It's funny, when the whole Seattle thing first started going down on my local college radio station, Mudhoney and Nirvana were the two big names. For whatever reason, Mudhoney appealed to me more, and I went down to my local record store and picked up a couple of Mudhoney 7" records, ignoring the Nirvana 7"'s. For resale value, sort of wish I had the Nirvana records instead of Mudhoney now.
I find Mudhoney unlistenable now, but I suppose I'd play it for a laugh now and then if I though of it.

What do you Mudhoney fans think of Steve Turner's solo alt-country album?
