Yaz or Yazoo?

I need help settling a bet between my wife and myself.
Yazoo were from England as we all know. My wife says they changed their name to Yaz for the US only, and I say they also became Yaz in the UK.
My wife also says there was a "Yazz" in the UK but is completely different, which I know, but still say Yazoo became Yaz.
Who's right?

My feeling without checking is your wife.
I have lots of singles in the UK and they are all yazoo, whenever I see their product here it is always Yaz.
I really like(d) them.

and if you look at allmusic that would seem to be the case…. Both bands are listed although yazoo has no bio and its labels are listed as Mute and import.

I think your wife is right.
The band formed by blues singer Alison Moyet and founder of Depeche Mode, Vince Clarke are named Yazoo in the UK (and the rest of the world), but take the name Yaz in the US because of a conflict with an American band with the same name.

I am never wrong…….
yes the most frustrating arguer is the one who argues all night over something, then the next day, when proved wrong, claims what they never said it.
