100 greatest guitarist

I agree with Marr.
And where is Ace Frehely? He belongs up there.
If you're going to put Ace Frehley on the list, you might as well put my father in law on as well.

For those of you who are adding to the list, who would you take off of the list?
The morons that put this list together would probably have Springboard, Dylan, Cobain, Waits and Lydon on a list of best "vocalists"!

I'd take off:

#95 Shields
#80 Quine
#76 Toure
#79 Gallup
#61 Turner
#59-60 Greenwood, O'Brien
#17 White
#12 Cobain

For the most part the list is fine, but the placements outside of the top five are ridiculous.

I find it strange that not too long ago Rolling Stone proclaimed Anson Funderburgh as one of the greatest guitarist of the past 20 years, and he's nowhere on that list.
I think all of those artists are effective "vocalists". Good singers, no, but good vocalists.

That's what I meant.

Springfield knew how to belt out a tune.

wish I had Jessie's girl…
I love that the Radiohead guitarists are ahead of EDDIE VAN HALEN. What does that even mean? The list often confuses producing (Kevin Shields) or songwriting (Lou Reed) with guitar-playing. For starters, give me Slash, Dr. Know, and Richard Lloyd. . .

Rolling Stone is ok for music news, but totally sucks ass for music criticism. These lists used to be really good, like the 20th Anniversary top 100 albums. Now they're random and always seriously flawed. And confusing. Trying to wrap my head around Lou Reed being a better GUITAR player than Eddie Van Halen, when he's never even the best guitar player on stage, is more difficult than calculus.
what about Buckethead, certainly he's better than, that clown from the Voidoids ;)
where is prince, adrian belew, rick dangel of the wailers, Phil Manzanera
Where is Madonna, Justin Timerlake & Mick Jagger?
how about Charlie Christian or Django Reinhardt

If Johnny Marr is not in the top five, it's just proof the list is a load of bollocks, like any other list that comes out.

.
If Richard Thompson only made #19 (behind Johnny Ramone and the guy from Red Hot Chili Peppers?) I have a hard time placing Marr at the top 5.

Your saying Ramone and the bloke from the chili peppers are better than Marr?….please don't make yourself look stupid in front of everyone.

Who is your father-in-law, the fat hairy guy from the Deftones? or the guitar player from the movie "Deliverance"?

I'd love to know how they cast that kid in Deliverance. Really, who would want to play that role?

Oh yeah, my bad. You are right, that is a banjo!

Cousin, wife…..Uncle, father-in-law…..do those things matter?
