I've thought about this for awhile now.I guess my biggest disapoinment would have to be not seeing Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band in thier prime.Specifically,Troutmask Replica era or any of the Zappa/Beefheart collaborations.I have a Beefheart bootleg live in KC in 74,1st time they played there and it smokes! When he was on,WOW!!

….. I think the 80's would have been a good time to have been a music fan in the UK.
I saw the Replacements on their last tour only; can you imagine how awesome their earlier shows were? Damn.
I never saw the Clash.
:(
But, I was on the very forefront of R.E.M. They opened for the Police in 1983, so when they came through on their Murmur tour, I caught them play a soccer field at Univ. of South Florida. It was AWESOME. (Haven't seen them since Radio City Music Hall in 1988).

I used to go to a local pub behind my flat in Plymouth, one Sunday night there was some band playing but I couldn't be arsed to go listen to them..it was The Police. Don't regret it but still get a laugh out of it seeing as how big they got.

I'm also starting to worry that I may never get the chance to see Tom Waits live, period.

Weren't you more like about 18 or so when the VU broke up?

The Velvet Underground
Missed tons of other bands that I would have loved to have seen but mostly due to the most common reasons being other obligations, lack of money, or not knowing they were playing in town at the time.
speaking of being too young…I've missed so much, but top of the list has to be My Bloody Valentine. With the Pixies as a close second…until now!
I started rocking when I was very, very young.

Sorry, guess I didn't really know the date of when they broke up. Guess I really don't pay attention to one of the most overrated bands in history.

I didn't truly like the Beach Boys until I started liking the Shins and Beulah in the last two years.
Originally posted by bags:After reading "Our band could be your life" it seems that their earlier shows were beyond hit-or-miss more like miss and miss. They would purposely try to piss off the audience. I saw them open for Elvis Costello (think that was their final tour) and that was well worth it. Saw bunches of bands on their final tours, always a bit of a bummer.

this will show you how young i am…Dinosaur Jr. I didnt really get into them until like 1991, and by then….well, most of the good stuff was over with. only saw them once, and J solo twice.
nirvana, alice in chains
i did get to see the melvins when they came with tomahawk. that was a fucking awesome show

Layne Staley and Kurt Cobain are both still dead. Both still burning in hell. Although only one of them left us with some good music.

Not "life altering" as some board drama-queens say, but definately one of the most memorable concerts I've ever seen. It was during their "White Riot" days, which was just before "London Calling"….I think! (It's been a while)
The pub the police were performing in was about as big as Velvet Lounge, it didn't even have a proper stage.

[/QB] I got to see them at a small place called Painters Mill i believe, somewhere near Towson. It was right before their 3rd album dropped in 1980 and they were great. Then they hit it big and Sting became an ass.It was all downhill from there.
