Christian Punk??

This article in the NYT today (http://www.nytimes.com/2003/06/10/arts/music/10CHRI.html) was talking about Christian Punk and Christian Hardcore.

Can somebody explain this strange hybrid? Like tequiza, this is probably a combination that should not exist.

What are these punk rockers raging about? GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY! HONOR THY MOTHER AND FATHER! NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS, HERE'S THE ABSTINENCE PISTOLS!

i mean, really. am I missing something here?

no odder than the christian rave they were throwing in a church near laurel recently, drug and alcohol free of course.

I have this terrifying fear that one day I'm going to have a kid who will rebel against me by going to youth group meetings instead of experimenting with drugs and dying his/her hair like a good red-blooded teenager.

Those kids used to drive me madly insane throughout high school and college…so it would be by far the best way for my offspring to continue to drive me crazy. Which is of course the goal for any child.
