Sigh, since I am going alone(damn busy girlfriend) and have no ticket currently, I guess I should but tickets early and check out the openers. Do people on the board often go to shows alone? Am I a pussy for not really wanting to? Though i am, cause Ash at the Black Cat is unmissable. And why oh why do i still have my membership privelages taken away still? Come to think of it, when I became a member I never acquired that British accent I thoguht I would, or that sudden love for alt-country.
that was fecking great………i love timmy…………

thankyou lefty for the brilliant photos i of course got timmy to sign em………….gawd he's hot

brilliant performance from start to finish……………
I second that. A really great show by Ash. The new songs sounded very impressive.
short attention span review

ash - the little girls and the rest of us understood.

white light motorcade = ash - (snap + crackle + pop)

just jinger - lather rinse repeat

hats off to the lads and lassie of ash for coming out and playing three year old songs like there were just released yesterday. the drummer like the jams drummer really puts the snap! in the bands sound, and make it look easy as well. really liked the new material can't wait for the new record. my only nit was lack of the early stuff, although i can't think of anything else i would like to have hear. the band should have shorten the encore that enemy single was pretty awful.

the black couch in the back was awful comfy and white light motorcade awful loud. me thinks they were hiding something with their amps turned up to 12.

which brings us to just jinger. kosmette nailed them half way through the first song with "I've heard this band before". bland alternapop played by competent musicians. a dash of u2, coldplay, dave mattehews, etc. typical song ended with "blah blahter blah" x50. each repeat done with slighty different phrasing and "heart" felt emotion. even more pointless was the percussion interlude that like the rest of the set went on way to long. you could hear the snigger in the audience when they proudly announced their upcoming show at jaxx…

I thought they only went up to 11?
how long was ash's set? when did they go on?
10:45pm and played for 75 minutes…

since no cucumbers were harmed during their set, one can only assume that they had the special little willie amps that go to 12…

Yeah yeah, I went and was rather glad i did. Made a night of it with a burger from the cafe too. So glad I saw Ash, few bands can run through so many great songs in sucha short period of time. Of course, few bands have the majority of their songs clocking in at under 3 1/2 minutes too. White Light Motorcade sucked, even though I did see Tim hanging out watching them, and he seemed really into it. I learned my lesson, going solo isn't all that bad.

Oh, and Kosmo, the songs "Envy", not "Enemy." Not one of my favorites either.
lefties photos were very cool……

And that was a very good show. It had me jumping up and down like a 14 year old girl….

After the delgados slagged off Ash, I did think it funny that Ash's bass guitarist didnt even know who the delgados were……
*sniff, sniff*

Didn't make it. Had a friend in crisis, and it was 11:15 when I was heading home. Plus, had a fall in a manhole in G'town (like it wasn't bad enough that I was in G'town to start with!)

So, since I missed 'em, if I get an Ash album, what should it be??
68% of me says get 1977
30% of me Free All Angels
1% Trailer
1% post nuclear sounds

1977 has most of my favourite ash songs on it.
well seeing that 1977, Trailer and Free All Angels can probably be bought in total for under a tenner start there… stay away from from post nuclear sounds even the band hated it. free all angels is my fav much more polished then the early stuff. but the first two are worthy contenders.
If you can find an import of "Intergalactic 7s" or whatever their greatest hits cd is, you'll find every song they played last night, minus the new stuff, plus tons more, and a bunch of B sides. I forget what I paid for it, but it is worth it. Though, "1977" and "Free All Angels" are both great albums in their own right.

where do you do your CD buying….

Sure my copies didnt cost much, but I was patient in waiting for them to turn up second hand…. Actually come to think of it I bought free all angels new for $10, then found a promo of it for $1……
didn't you have a $1 copy of 1977?? and price for free all angels start out low… it still sells for $11 new at the kinectic records and bet it's around $10 as worst buys…
I think my replacement, coming to the US copy of 1977 came from Kemp Mill second hand for $7…..it is a promo though.
Kosmo, I missed you and Kosmette in the 'lounge' area. Poorlulu and Markie, where the Hell were you? I looked for you during and after the show both upstairs and downstairs but never saw you.

Definitely a fun show and I especially liked the new song called Orpheus that they did during the encore. Wasn't surprised to hear Tim say that this was the best reception ever that they've received in the US. Quite uncharacteristic of a DC crowd. They were wild from beginning till end.

Totally missed the 1st band. I think I liked White Light better live than recorded but they were definitely too loud. No one I'd go out of my way for but fun filler.

Got there late because of the monsoon I had to endure on my drive down from Baltimore. I tell ya, I don't know where the Ark of the Covenent is but I was certainly praying to find it last night! Thank God that I know the roads pretty well now. Besides being dark (which was the easy part) it was nothing but a wall of water. Visibility was almost nill. The roads looked like clouds that were raining upside down. Flashes of lightening that would literally blind you for a moment or so once they struck. I was completely shocked that I never saw any accidents at all last night. Traffic that is usually speeding along at about 70+ mph was down to about 20-30 mph. It was amazing how few cars pulled over. Md/DC/Va drivers must be pros now when it comes to any kind of rain driving. Someone should give us honorary Mariners licenses.
We must have been avoiding you then Jaguar….

We got trapped in pollys and got to blackcat 2 songs before White whatever finished. We hung around after the show both upstairs and downstairs.

Lulu had to get her hug from Tim…..
i managed to avoid everyone last night……………

where the hell was everyone?

oh and timmmmmmmmy,timmmmmmmmmmy timmmmmmmy………………
