Is Blur worth $25?

Couldn't help but think of Mankie when I just saw this Onion article

Not a real fan.

But seriously, this album is probably the most disapointing thing I've ever heard in my short life. After the first couple listens I just kind shocked. "Where are the songs, or the melodies, or ANYTHING". But it is what it is, and I've got my tix anyway.

And for the record: 13 > s/t > mod life > parklife > leisure > great escape >>>>> think tank
Hmmmm…have to say my faves (in order) are:

1) Parklife
2) Modern Life Is Rubbish
3) Leisure
4) Blur
5) Live at Budokan (import)
6) 13
7) Great Escape

Not sure where Think Tank fits in yet…probably somewhere between self-titled and Great Escape. I have to say that Leisure is very overrated. Not a lot of depth, but some good pop songs.

I don't have Budokan, but I do have Special Collectors Edition, which is hit and miss.
I think certainly, if you're a fan of their british stuff, your list is spot on. I disagree with your statement about Leisure, at the time it was dismissed as a baggy trousered Stone Roses rip off. And ten years later it sounds like . . . a stone roses rip off. I still rather like it as well, but not because it has any real originality.
Modern Life outclasses the other "Britsh albums" in my opinion beacuse of it's freshness. They were overflowing with ideas which two albums later which would be beaten into the ground for good.

I guess Think Tank is the Kid A to 13's OK Computer (although 13 is a better, ballsier album than OKC), a conscious attempt to do a 180, and since 13 is my favorite, my hatred of Think Tank seems to follow.
I dont make too much money, but I will be able to scrape up twenty five bucks for this one. Ive seen them twice, both in the late 90s, and both times it was a great show. Both times they played loads of new stuff (at the time) and then a smattering of others. Parklife songs were always played. I plan on going to have a good time.
I also must go to provide an fratboy/scenester/woo-hoo/poseur element. Someone has to do it to keep the cool people in check.
The 25 bucks is a pleasant surprise. Especially coming from someone (me) that thinks parklife is old and somewhat tacky and Think Tank is quite a nice little album.
Last (and only time) time I saw Blur was back in 1997 at the Capitol Ballroom (now called Nation, right?), and they were touring in support of the self-titled record. I thought it was a great show.. because they were still performing their older material. Although I remember them performing nothing from The Great Escape. I'm having a though time digesting Think Thank. It's a very experimental, sparse, sorta-minimalistic record. But I think I'll be forking out the $25 to see them again at the 9:30. They should throw an old song into the mix of their new material.
Surprisingly, the more I hear Think Tank, the more I like it. It's a whole lot more laid back than their previous works and not Poppy at all as most of their other songs are.

If you haven't heard it, you can listen here.

I'm having a hard time forking over the money for both the new Blur and the new Radiohead. I bought the first singles by both bands and think they're horrible. If I can get the limited editions for a very good price from eBay maybe I'll splurge. I've got to save up the money for that White Negroes cd!
Is doomlink worth $0?
