I'm going to see the Wallflowers on Thursday. Next week, I'm seeing Danzig at Ramshead Live and She Wants Revenge at the Black Cat. The last week of October is pretty sweet - Ryan Adams and then Morrissey on Halloween.
Next week roll call
Totally a rookie mistake. But I didn't have time to get cash before going, and when I saw the ATM fees, I figured it couldn't hurt. Plus, I know the guy's finance, so now I can still look her in the eyes and say with confidence "I didn't not pay for your husband's indiscretions…just the booze that lowered his inhibitions."
On a related note, my wife is going to be psyched to see a $300 charge for "Sapphires Restaurant."

I'm sure the Director will smooth things over.

"Sapphires Restaurant"
I paused on buying tickets and lost out. It's been sold out for a while now. Should be an excellent show, but expect a 50/50 mix of gabbing and playing.
George W. Bush is the best thing to happen to Bragg's career. After the fall of the Wall, the commie cockney angle was totally washed up. The ascendancy of Bush and the Iraq war has made his act a relevant one again.

I'll be at the Hives and British Sea Power. Sad to be missing Witchcraft. I'll be at Jens Lekman and the Hip next week (and hopefully Billy Bragg).

Were you out there this weekend? I just got back last night from a bachelor party.
On a related note, I feel like dying right now.
Over the weekend I was invited to a family friends' 21st birthday party with all of her girlfriends in Vegas. It happens to coincide with the opening week of March Madness. I'm pretty sure my head is going to explode.

I'll be in Vegas next week. Recommendations for any *ahem* nocturnal entertainment are welcome. I plan on crawling off the plane once I touch back down in D.C . . .
i'm getting in at midnight tomorrow, staying at the new planet hollywood (old aladdin), should be good times
Originally posted by Hoya Paranoia:I stayed there in June. It was quiet which was good for the tables and the sports book, but not so much for the nightlife. It's location makes it good to go elsewhere for club life though.

How ironic/foreboding/scary that your Vegas "currency" has the acronym of V.D. :D

*COPOUT POST* (to avoid threadjacking):
Oh yes, & while I'm there I'll be seeing Daft Punk, Queens Of The Stone Age, Rage, Iggy/Stooges, Thievery Corporation, & others . . .

Speaking of which, what's the deal with "making it rain"? I'm sure the strippers don't mind the cash, but man, how do they not get pissed off that guys are literally throwing money at them?

Which would you rather do - make it rain while she's dancing 5 feet away from you or slip it in her g-string while she's smiling at you from arms length? That's a no-brainer right?
Exactly. It just seemed like bullshit showing off anyway. In fact, at our club is was a rain off between a group of thugged out black guys and some white trust fund douche bags who wanted to be thugged out black guys.
Either way, I got more worthwhile contact and all I did was direct the ladies over to the groom to be.

Originally posted by nkotb:That's pretty much what it is. It's just something you do because you can. And I doubt the strippers are turned off by it, cause money's an aphrodisiac in an environment like that. Think of it as a currency-based pissing contest.

I personally don't do it cause I don't like attention when I'm out doing my thing, but I can't begrudge 'em for it. Do you . . . Plus I'm no space to judge. I got issues of my own . . .
