No Death Cab Thread?

Am I missing something?

Anyway, I've never been to Constipation Hall. Set times indicate the show will prolly be over well before midnight - when the metro turns back into a pumpkin.

What do folks recommned? Worth driving?
Well there's one decent to good band on the bill, and it's not Death Cab.
Surely you jest.
Parking is pretty bad, but the metro is not near DAR either. You should probably just drive and try and get there early.
Blech. I was afraid of that. Thanks for the advice.
No problem. Have a good time.
No, it took me awhile to appreciate them, but now I do think that Franz Ferdinand is about the best thing that those folks across the big pond have to offer.

I liked a few songs off their first album…their second album I haven't really given much of a listen. We'll see if they win me over tonight.

But my heart still belongs to Benny G. ;)
I'm there for FF all the way… Call me old fashioned but I happen to like Verse Chorus Verse songwriting and very few of DFCF songs really grab my interest, they are nice sonic wallpaper…

Sonic wallpaper. That'd be a fabulous album title.

For me, the Death Cab appeal is more about the lyrics and the "sound." (Although I think you'd find Plans a little more to your liking in the song structure department.)
Deathcab is a snoozefest.

I think tonight will be the….tenth or eleventh time I've seen Death Cab. I disagree that they're a snoozefest, or even nice sonic wallpaper. It certainly doesn't RAWK, and it isn't pop music really…I just think they write really well thought out songs.

I have long loved their records and enjoy what they do. Lyrics are important, and I think Walla is an outstanding engineer and an extremely tasteful guitar player.
i never said DFCF were a snoozefest they for me fade into the background.. i like HOOKS DAMMIT!!! but this argument has become boring :p

Yes yes, Alex said snoozefest. Apologies.

Hooks! You'd like some of the stuff on Plans for sure - "Your Heart is an Empty Room" is a great song with a solid hook to it. In general, its an album with more hooks; Transatlanticism has a fair amount too.
Transatlanticism is one of my favorite Death Cab albums. Ever.

Thanks for chiming in callat703! I was beginning to think I was the last, lonely Death Cab fan out there. :)
What are your OTHER favorite Death Cab albums? Ever.

Callat703 ("call at 7:03" from "Passenger Seat") is a DCFC reference that I don't think has ever been picked up on here.

And Transatlanticism is wonderful…I suffer a bit from indie-fan syndrome of being a little anti the success it has had…the commodification of the band via the OC didn't sit super well with me. That's another story. But you can't get around the fact that the album is great, and all of the guys in the band are super people who paid their dues, and make great music.
Death Cab has always sounded decent but antiseptic to me…the production, the singing, always came off as emotionally detached, although the songwriting seemed pretty solid. It's funny which indie bands break big, looking back…in my mind it's a shame more pop-oriented acts that came up around the time of Death Cab (I'm thinking Aden, Aislers Set, Pernice Brothers, hell even Magnetic Fields) can't seem to make it into the mainstream the way they have.

I'd chime in for We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes, the EPs, and Transatlanticism as being outstanding. The band's cover of Bjork's "All is Full of Love" is on The Stability EP - I love their version.

Photo Album, Airplanes, Play These Songs With Chords - all nice in their own respects, but not quite cohesive records. Plans is a pleasant record too, but not a knockout.

Crap. You beat me to it. I also quite like We Have the Facts.
