I gave up watching that show….it was too difficult trying to figure what feck'n day and time it was on for a while.
I do miss all the milfs though.

Here's a band worth of the OC…
The Handcuffs described as a cross between No Doubt and the Foo Fighters. Smackie will be somewhat familiar with this group, as the song "Today Will Be Yesterday Tomorrow" which was done when they were calling themselves Big Hello a few years back.
The driving force behind the Handcuffs is drummer Brad Elvis of Elvis Brothers fame. Brad is an amazing drummer and is currently filling Clem Burke's spot in the Romantics. He was hand picked by Clem for the spot, which says something.
I also saw that the Romantics are head to the East and West Coast for shows in April. Including dates in San Fran and DC. Not a show to be missed IMHO :D

i love how the people on the OC think they're so worthy for gathering up some cool/semi cool/borderline lame-ish bands and marketing them to the masses of teenybopper whores via the character seth that listens to bright eyes and is the closest thing to "indie" that the show will ever see and then capitalizing on it completely by making a compilation when they know that people will only buy that cd because the phantom planet track is on it. hmph.

And I'm sure the bands are pretty upset by the exposure too….
Last night they featured Death Cab (again) "A Lack of Color" and Interpol's "The Specialist" as well as the Nada Surf cover of "If you Leave."
And before you knock the OC for choosing Indie music, remeber that the executive producer is McG, who made his name doing music videos long before movies. And he also had one of the best uses of music in a movie since Cameron Crowe in using Prodigy's "Smack my Bitch Up" in the first Charlie's Angels when they were getting worked by the guy who looks oddly like George McFly.
I love the people who bitch that the radio sucks, MTV sucks, and then blast a TV show for exposing indie music to the masses. If it's so good that you listen to it, is it really all that bad that others get exposed to it too? Or would you rather have every person on this message board to find out about new music?
Cheers to McG for taking advantage of his position and exposing others who would not normally hear about indie music because MTV and radio do in fact ignore them and tuning them in. Oh, and indie music is how we do things in the OC, bitch! ;) Check out the only place in America where Clear Channel thought it could make money (obviously their goal) with indie music….

all points taken, smackie. i guess that i, along with tons of other people, suffer from the whole 'ownership' thing with music of the "indie" persuasion, or whatever. it's a bad habit, and i guess i'm a bad person for it. whatever. i'm glad that McG can capitalize on his position and do his job to educate the masses about music of any kind. however, it's just not a pleasant thought - in my mind at least- to imagine the mall rats of suburbia crowding up the 930 and the 'cat to see a band that they saw on the OC…. bitch!! :p

I've lived two of my 36 years in suburbia. Last year spent in suburbia: 1997. Not to say I won't move to suburbia once we buy a house…
I go to the mall once or twice a year.
If you live in Arlington, why would you negatively stereotype all of the people who live in the suburbs?

a) i live in arlington. does that count as suburbia? ;) i guess.
2) i rarely, if never, go to the mall. i can't stand it. the whole being inside a building that is made to look like you can be outside (i.e potted plants and fake trees and weird lighting) as always freaked me out. if i go shopping, i prefer to be outside as much as possible.
d) i bet you are from suburbia and at one time in your life went to the mall. :roll:
