Slint

I am very excited about the re-formation of Slint and the upcoming show at 930. They were one of my first discoveries into the post-rock/indie movement beginning in my college days. I remember picking up both Tweez and Spiderland at Other Music in NYC after listening to "Washer" at a friends NYU dorm room….. Spiderland is still one of my favorite albums!

Since they had long broken up, I began to follow Dave Pajo's work with Aerial M/Papa M… The 1998 Aerial M show at the old Black Cat backstage is still amongst my top 5 musical experiences ever.

So to be finally able to see Slint as I approach 30 years of age is somewhat surreal to me.
I'm going to one of the Irving Plaza shows, may the 9:30 Club show too. The shows are during spring break, should be rad.
A bunch of big reunions happening lately including one-off shows (pixies, slint, unrest, olivia tremor control, etc.). It's pretty wild. It provides some sense of closure for me at least.
I have never even heard of Slint.
Louisville, Ky band that had a short lived career. David Grubbs (gastr del sol) was in it. Spiderland is easily worth checking out.
Why are they headlining the 9:30 Club for 25 bucks?

It's their reunion tour. Last time they played together was like 1994, I think. Also, the fact Pitchfork keeps putting Spiderland in it's top 20 of the 1990's lists doesn't hurt.

Because they're one of those "influential" bands. It'd be like My Bloody Valentine reuniting for a tour.

I personally never really saw what the big deal was with Slint. I respect them as innovators of post-rock but the bands that followed them were better.
