Gomez w/ the Bad Plus

Do you think this bitch will sell out?

I've never seen either band, and I have a feeling this show will be quite the good time.

My guess is that the show will not sell out, and that it won't be any good.

For only 40% of the price, you can see Devotchka on the previous night. That show won't sell out either, but it will be very good.

Why do you say it won't be any good? Do you just not like their music?

I'm not even all that familiar with their music, but have heard they put on an awesome show.

Exactly, I don't like their music. They could waggle their weiners for 90 minutes for all I know, that would be a good show.

i saw gomez at the club once a while back when beulah opened for them. terrible. like dave matthews band without all the hot chicks in halter tops.

i was at the same show and totally agree, although i think we are in the minority on gomez…

it will sellout both bands have been adopted by jam band fans who go out to see anyone… the bad plus do very uninteresting jazz versions of alt-rock songs.

They're playing Richmond for free.

I've never even heard more than two songs by Gomez, and I don't listen to jambands.

It just seems funny how quick people are to pigeonhole other people, bands, music, etc.

Especially when the band in question isn't a jamband:

Seen Gomez 3 times at the club. For the tour "In Our Gun" they were brilliant. Pulled out the A game. The other two times (once when that "Get Arrested" Song came out and once for their latest) were pretty middling. Still thinking of trying again as they have shown to be able to kick it.

Gomez are actually a pretty good band with three very good lead-vocalists including the very distinctive Ben Ottewall, who looks like a young Bill Gates but sounds like a 60 year old soul man. Seen them three times, in 99, 02, and 04. I liked them a lot the first 2 times, but by the end of the 3rd show decided I'd had my Gomez fill. They def had their own unique sound, kind of shambly and DIY but still fairly melodic. But I quit listening four years ago.
