Mankie's music...

So, I went on a used CD shopping spree this weekend, in an attempt to buy some new music I've heard about, but never listened to. The results varied, but Mankie, I blame you for my worst purchase. I bought Beautiful South's "Quench", and it is horrible. Thank god i had the smarts to listen to The Waterboys at a listening station or i might have waisted good money on their newest disk too. $3.99 down the drain.
Not my only crappy purchase however. I bought a Blood Brother's CD, not sure which one, it sucks. And I got the newest Black Eyes disc. I wasn't all that thrilled, but there is at least the promise of something there. Overall, a bad day shopping, though I did gt a cheap Muse Cd and finally discovered Air Miami. But Markie, I hate to say it, but your recommendations were bad. No wonder you're such a cranky old man. You've got nothing good to listen to.

Are you still bitter because your baseball team choked worse than a dog in Korea?
Anyone who doesn't appreciate The Beautiful South or The Waterboys is simply less music savvy than I….you keep your Bon Jovi collection and I'll keep my collection of the finest music ever written.

I saw a Beautiful South cd for $1, and I almost bought it…but my wife convinced me it would be a waste of money based on the Housemartins tape I had played her. She also hated the Waterboys tapes I played for her…tough critic, I guess.

I know they eat dogs in Korea, but your reference is still vague at best. If i knew anything about the Premier League other than Alan Shearer is an EA Sports stud, I'm sure I'd come up with something better than that as a rag on whoever your team is.

I have old Waterboys (only up to Fisherman's Blues), and it's great (though I have to be in the mood, sometimes Mike Scott's vocals grate on me). Have no idea what newer stuff might sound like.

Would you use my first three Belle and Sebastian cd's or four Smiths cd's as coasters? Wouldn't my copies play as well as yours?
No, I don't always do as my wife say, but I do listen to her advice, and am happy to have a best friend who often agrees with my thoughts, though sometimes offers me thoughtfully constructed oppositional (to my own) ideas to consider.

A comment like that coming from you two I take as a huge compliment towards my musical tastes. Seriously though, I wouldn't even use any of the cd's you own as coasters in my house.
Do you always do what your wife says by the way?

The reason I picked up the CD is that I'm planning on going to that show. Hope it's fun!

oo oo oo oo i love that one! are you going to see them? my sister says, usually mid-disaffected hipster yawn, "They play here all the time," but i don't care, i've never seen em and i heart them so very much.

no, i haven't. is it within walking (or short biking) distance from either of the FC metro stops? thanks for the reply.
It's on Broad Street (Route 7) about equidistant from either Metro stop.
http://www.readyguide.com/thecdcellar.php I've personally never sold anything there, but I've seen lots of others bringing stacks of discs in.
