interesting song lyrics...

I walked into the house of miraculous recovery
And stood before king everything
And he asked me to join him in the red wing
Took me to pie land
Said, Iâ??m a thigh man
I will be eternally hateful

GBV - Hot Freaks
It's OK.
It's not loaded.
I'm a good driver.
Don't worry, Honey.

"Famous Last Words" - 9353
If I ever do karaoke, this Robbie Fulks song will be the song. Too difficult to choose just a line or two.

Well, I came down to Nashville in 1993
'Cause my friend Jim said Nashville had money growin' right on the trees
So I thought I'd go pick some, and I don't mean musically.

Now it's 4 years later, and I'm wonderin' where I went wrong
Shook a lotta hands, ate a lotta lunch, wrote a lotta dumbass songs
But I couldn't get a break in Nashville, if I tried my whole life long

So, fuck this town…fuck this town
Fuck it end-to-end, fuck it up and down
Can't get noticed – can't get found – can't get a cut, so
Fuck this town.

Hey, this ain't country-western!
It's just soft-rock feminist crap!
And I thought they'd struck bottom back back in the days of Ronnie Milsap
Now they can't stop the flood of assholes: there ain't a big enough ASCAP.

Sure, I like old Tim Carroll, and BR5-49
But Nashville don't need that noise, no,
Nashville'll do just fine
As long as there's a moron market
And a faggot in a hat to sign.

Fuck this town! Fuck this town!
Fuck…this…town.
Demon is up in the attic to the left
My eye turns to the left to say, "no"
You said, "First, I am the special one."
I never hammered my mind out
I never have the bloody hammer [x3]
I never have the bloody [x2]
I never have the bloody hammer

~ Bloody Hammer by Roky Erickson and the Aliens
Your dream world is just about to fall.

- Midnight Earle
From the splinter in the hand, to the thorn in the heart, to the shotgun to the head, you got no choice but to learn to glean solace from pain or youll end up cynical or dead.

Jim White

Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had,
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye.
He was big and bent and gray and old,
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold,
And I said: "My name is 'Sue!' How do you do! Now you gonna die!"

Boy Named Sue - Johnny Cash (written by Shel Silverstein)

Full Lyrics
And a few from my childhood that I used to sing along to, not knowing what they meant, that I laugh about now:

You can't catch me 'cause the rabbit gone died…
Aerosmith, Sweet Emotion

He wear no shoe shine, he got toe jam football
He got monkey finger, he shoot co-ca cola
Beatles, Come Together

And of course this whole song:

WHITE RABBIT (G. Slick)

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small,
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all.
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall.
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall,
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call.
Call Alice
When she was just small.
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low.
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know.
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead,
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said:
"Feed your head. Feed your head. Feed your head"
Lyrically, the best album ever!

Good call Markie. And The Queen is Dead is right up there for Big Mouth Strikes Again:

Sweetness, sweetness I was only joking
when I said I'd like to
smash every tooth in your head

Sweetness, sweetness I was only joking
when I said by rights you should be
bludgeoned in your bed

And now I know how Joan of Arc felt
now I know how Joan of Arc felt
as the flames rose to her Roman nose
and her Walkman started to melt

And There is a Light that Never goes Out:

And if a double-decker bus
crashes in to us
to die by your side
is such a heavenly way to die
and if a ten ton truck
kills the both of us
to die by your side
well the pleasure, the privilege is mine

Among the many others….

BTW, Smith, what Fall lyrics do you like the best? And is The Real New Fall LP as good as everyone says? I'm a little scared…
I'll give the Smiths credit for writing good songs, but the lyrics are a little too obvious for me.

Is it not that you have heard them too often? Plus they are 20 years old……

Thankyou for rating me….

I would rate you, but then you dont like Torino and that irks me no end….. I almost put health and efficiency into this thread.

Repition and Bingo masters break out are highlights for me, both off of the early years.

I have listened to the real new fall album a couple of times. If you like the fall you ought to like it. As Pollard already said….

"I hate the countryside so much,
I hate the contraflow/countryfolk so much"
I actually prefer Sparta FC but the lyrics are not as good:

Come on I will show you how I will change
When you give me something to slaughter
Shepherd boy (Hey!)
Everybody sing (Hey!)
Better act quick (Hey!)

Be my toy
Come on have a bet
We live on blood
We are Sparta F.C.

[background vocal by Elena] [1]

I don't have a jack knife it went up the hill
I don't know if i'll get it back
But by hook or by crook I will
Hey! Hey!

Be my toy
Come on have a bet
We live on blood
We are Sparta F.C.

Hey! Hey!

We have to pay for everything (Hey!)
But some things are for free (Hey!)
We live on blood (Hey!)
We are Sparta F.C. (Hey!)
English Chelsea fan this is your last game (Hey!)
We're not Galatasary We're Sparta F.C. (Hey!)

[background vocal by Elena] [1]

And take your fleecy jumper you won't need it anymore
It is in the car boot moving away
'Cause where you are going clothes won't help
Stay at home with TV set

Be my toy
Come on have a bet
We live on blood
We are Sparta F.C.

Cheap English man in the paper shop
You mug old women in your bobble hat
Better go spot a place to rest
No more ground boutique at match in Chelsea
We are Sparta F.C.

Come on have a bet
We live on blood
We are Sparta F.C.

Hey! Hey!

Shepherd boy (Hey!)
Everybody sing (Hey!)
Better act quick (Hey!)
Be my toy (Hey!)
Come on have a bet (Hey!)
So I can win (Hey!)
This is not a poem (Hey!)
For the bin (Hey!)
I don't have a jack knife (Hey!)
It went up the hill (Hey!)
I don't know if I'll get it back (Hey!)
By hook or crook I will (Hey!)
English Chelsea fan (Hey!)
This is your last game (Hey!)
We're not Galatasary (Hey!)
We're Sparta F.C. (Hey!)

Sparta!

I only listened to Torino twice, but I like Va Va Voom Cinerama much more. Sure, the songs are simpler and poppier, but I think that's what they were best at. I have a weird and anal "thing" towards production, and that album had that glossy-radio sound that bugs me. It's hard to explain. But Mark, you should give me a break b/c at least I LOVE Gedge… It's better to disagree about his records than talk about a pretentious "indie-rock" band like Bright Eyes or something… I know you'll kill me if you like them, but boy, they really irk me.

Its Ok you can stay living some time more.
I think it was the English majors in college that ruined The Smiths for me. In high school I liked them fine.
