Nicole Atkins & the Sea
"The record calls to mind Roy Orbison if he were a woman; the bleak visions of Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen; the darkly mysterious girl group-on-acid musings of Julee Cruise and Lynch composer Angelo Badalamenti; the sorrow of Patsy Cline, the â??60s experimentation of Love and Nuggets; all with a redeeming sense of hope amidst the emotional wreckage that is all Nicole."

Nicole Atkins is so awesome. That was a really good one-hour set.

I think the setlist was something like:
1.) Party's Over
2.) Maybe Tonight
3.) Carouselle
4.) The Way It Is
5.) Cool Enough (extended ending)
6.) Kill the Headlights
7.) I Wait For You
8.) Together We're Both Alone (acoustic)
9.) Brooklyn's On Fire
10.) Teen Creep (?)
11.) Love Surreal
12.) Neptune City

13.) The Crystal Ship (The Doors cover)

The band tore through "Love Surreal," and "Cool Enough" seemed a bit heavier to me. I liked the new songs, and it was nice to see "Carouselle." "Together We're Both Alone" stripped down sounded really nice, and I was surprised to see so many people knew "Brooklyn's On Fire." Kudos, D.C.!

I feel a bit jipped that we didn't get "War Torn," and Nicole's vocals went a bit distorted on one of the mid-set songs, but overall, a great show.
