Can anyone recommend some good ones in DC? Even conveyor belt ones, as long as they're good.
Sushi restaurant recommendations in DC?
sushi taro - there is no other. 17th and P, above the CVS. it's on the spendy side but so worth it.
Ditto, but I don't really think it's too pricey. Cheaper than my local place, but just as delicious.

Cafe Japone - dupont
I hope you mean it's cheaper than Flying Fish (good one, btw)…

Also good is Marusaki is Tenleytown.

Is that in Dupont, next to Blockbuster? And close to JR's, the gay bar?

yes, it's east of dupont, two blocks before the whole foods. CVS is on the corner, blockbuster underneath (on 17th), taro above.
it's not crazy spendy a la nobu, but it's a little above average.
i'm a sushi fanatic, it's by far my favorite food. i gave up on finding anything better in DC. i occasionally dabble in other places, but always go back to taro. i had an ex who worked at the world bank, and asked her long-time japanese co-workers what's the best they came across. unanimous response was taro.
next question :)

I'm a high-roller, baby!

sushi taro vs. kaz's bistro. some say kaz has gone down hill.
2025 - no more seafood for us all.
Sushi Sono (in Columbia, MD) is exceptional, but a pain to get to unless you're going to Merriweather.
Sushi Taro (my favorite)
Sushi Ko (not bad either, but expensive)
Nooshi (on 19th Street) used to do a sushi happy hour during the week that was a great value, not sure they still do. It's still good for the price.

Originally posted by miss pretentious:Ditto on these two, but I have to say that while these are probably the best in DC, they're nowhere near as good as sushi in LA or NYC. So you pay essentially the same prices for what would be considered average at best in those other cities.

For anyone ever in Annapolis - Joss has the best sushi hands down.
i like Uni in dupont circle.
totally reasonable, and they have this mango-salmon sushi roll that has a bit of mint in it…it's like crack.

Sushi Taro, FTW.
Side note: They're yearly all-you-can-eat Cherry Blossom thing is on April 5th. Bring your asses.

I've had one bad experience there in probably 100 visits, but I'll keep that to myself. It's never busy either.
I highly recommend the mango salmon roll and the extreme picante roll.

raw fish near a gay man's bar.

two of my faves:
Yosaku
Murasaki (better prices at lunch)
both in Tenleytown
on MacArthur Boulevard, if you can get in, it's a small sushi bar and very popular: Kotobuki (upstairs) - cheap too!
