any thoughts on the new album?
wedding present
i like it. the fact that steve fisk was back behind the boards is crucial. that guy has the midas touch. as great a songwriter as gedge is, working with albini on seamonsters and then fisk on watusi sure didn't hurt. the guitars just sound so fucking vibrant.
there are a couple boring tracks on this new one, and there's really not that much to distinguish it from the recent cinerama stuff, but it does have a bit more edge to it, a little less cheery. but i haven't kept up with all the cinerama stuff. basically, if you like gedge, you'll find enough to like here to merit picking it up.

wow, i didn't even know there was a new wedding present album! this made my day.
coincidentally, i have been playing the shit out of bizarro, seamonsters, and watusi, and thusly, rediscovering the brilliance that is david gedge's songwriting.
maybe they'll do an american tour?

I may have asked this before, but does the Wedding Present have any female fans?
They've always seemed like the utimate guys' band to me.

BookerT, you made my day again. now i'll finally get to see them. every time they played in my town, i was either away, sick, or had prior engagements.
oh yeah, and lots of girls like the wedding present.

I wonder how much the show will actually differ from the cinerama shows
not much, given that recent cinerama shows were more and more like weddoes shows

I guess not likely since I believe Markie said Gedge didnt even like to play those at the old shows

Ah, the memories.

Yes, but they're probably referring to the mediocre movie of the same name.

Did you notice that they're highlighted on the new washington post entertainment blog?
personally, i still believe that it takes a lot of hype to get someone who has never heard a band before to buy a ticket. this blog didn't have audio clips. but it is a taste of the hype that's to come…

Still haven't heard anything other than one song but I was highly impressed with that. Can't wait to hear the whole thing.
