Shameless Plug for Blue Merle CD "Burning..."

I saw some familiar faces at Iota last month at Blue Merle's show with Justin Jones. If you didn't make it, and you caught the rave review two day's later in the Wash. Post, you were probably sad you missed it. I had the privilege of meeting them two years ago during a tour thru 930, and stayed in touch.
Now, I may be too emotionally attached to these LONGGGG suffering - starving - and tour-weary musicians, but I think you should check out their new cd on Island/DefJam, "Burning in the Sun." It's more Coldplay than SlipKnot, but they are remarkable musicians, and Lucas Reynold's vocals/lyrics (some co-written with Beau Stapleton - mandolin; Jason Oettel - bass) will blow you away. Part of Your History could be the classiest break-up song of all times.
I offer this challenge to Kosmo and Kosmette and Rhett and Celeste: I'll buy back your copies if you don't love it 'cause there's stuff in there for the everyone especially those who recognize remarkable musical/songwriting skills - as well as Philistines like me.
Thanks for indulging me: this was an unpaid posting. :D

Sorry, I listened to this band a few weeks ago online, and absolutely hated them. Middle of the road, bland Southern corporate frat rock with Americana influences. Sounded like they have a chance of being really popular though.

I checked out that show. They're all right I guess. Cd better than live. (ouch.) A couple stand out songs. I don't think I'll listen to them 24x7 or anything. Nice enough guys though.

went to their website and listened to the first song they have on there from some live show … the dude's voice was really really really off, i'm surprised that's what they're using to showcase their band … music is pretty pat mcgee band-ish bland, seems like nothing to write home about to me …

Yeah, their website sucks. Their old website was really good; when they signed with Island, they deferred alot of decisions to the suits. I don't like CD/promo artwork either - it's sort of weird/too conservative…but the music is better on the cd. I have very broad tastes in music, so I still really love their work, and "forum" opinions don't change my likes/dislikes. Thanks for giving them a listen, tho.
If you're into rock websites, check out www. Peppersghost.net. It's an on-line party! (catch the journal entries on the "without a hitch" tour. It's all true, and it'll crack you up (I hope).

Rolling Stone 2 star review from the last issue:
On their debut, Nashville's Blue Merle reach new vistas in roots-rock blandness: They're a politely jamming quartet doing Coldplay karaoke, complete with mandolin, violin and Luke Reynolds' vocal swoops and swoons. Milquetoast melancholia.

How many of you posting reviews of this album have actually listened to the album? If you haven't, what is the big deal about bringing this thread to the top of the pile every week or so? Is it that important of an album to us that we must keep talking about it?>

I posted a review of this album and I have not listened to it.

I noticed the review when I was flipping through rolling stone last night, and I figured I'd post it when I saw someone else post a review on it.

Yes, it is.
