FWIW - I don't have tickets for this - I'm just curious.

Originally posted by Bombay Chutney:No. We are not required to offer refunds to shows that are rescheduled. Venue's set their own ticketing policies and our refund policy is that we only offer refunds if a show is cancelled.

Originally posted by HoyaSaxa08:Oh, I don't know. I thought maybe there was some obscure law that said if the date of an event changed, a refund had to be an option. Sort of a ticket-as-contract thing. The contract changes, so you have the option to bail. It seems a common enough practice that I thought it might be required. I guess not.

Shadrach answered my question, though I'm kind of surprised that's the official policy.
that's a horrible policy, especially since most of these shows sell out. i recognize the challenge of reselling refunded tickets, particularly since you don't know how many people will want refunds, but this still completely screws me.
Any word on when the new dates are. It's tough to CL my tickets without a date.

I can understand you being miffed that the date has been changed and sad that you may miss the show, but how does our policy "screw" you? We didn't ask Snow Patrol to reschedule. Trust me when I say that we would much rather be having the show tonight.
Because I no longer live in DC, and it's a pain in the ass to unload tickets from out of town.
Perhaps 'screws' was a bit strong. I'd imagine you guys are screwed a bit more, what with not getting all the money I (and everyone else) would have spent on beer tonight.

Dang this makes me sad :(
You know, putting all contract details aside, public relations goes a looong way in the business world. I suspect that the band understands this from the tone of their letter. It's one thing to be fiercely loyal to one's employer but it would do everyone well for certain employees to brush up on these skills.
Kind of goes along side that old addage, "Penny wise and pound foolish."
From past experience, I suspect that if anyone has such a heartship due to this change, I bet that the club would be willing to work something out quietly offline. But I don't know that for sure. It's just the impression that I've always had.

Oh, I was going to ask. Where can I read the club's policy on all this sort of thing?

In bold letters it states: THERE MAY BE STRICT LIMITATIONS ON CASH REFUND OR CREDIT ISSUED FOR CANCELLED EVENTS.
It goes on to say:
This policy may be amended at anytime without notice.
As I said before due to the high demand for tickets to this show I can't imagine anyone having a great deal of difficulty getting rid of tickets they can't use.
We are working on nailing down a make-up date and will announce it just as soon as one is confirmed.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
In fact, those of y'all who can't attend the new date can probably sell your tickets at twice face value. Not here on the forum, of course. ;)

"Ticketmaster typically only offers refunds and/or exchanges based on the promoter's, team's or venue's instructions. In order to receive a refund or an exchange that may be offered, you will have to comply with the promoter's, team's or venue's instructions or deadlines, which, along with the decision about whether or not to issue a refund or an exchange, may be at the promoter's, team's or venue's discretion."
