What's yr ringtone?

Just got a new phone â?? no, not that one â?? and I puzzled over the problem. Should I not use one? Make a statement of hipness? Go with something retro? Just vibrate? Change it every day?

I ended up choosing "Calling Dr. Love" by Kiss â?? which prob. says all you need to know right there.
mine use to be the into to roadrunner by the modern lovers.
I have software for ringtone creation. I use different songs for different people in my address book but otherwise a generic tone for everyone else. E.g., "Mr. Suit" for a friend whose last name is Suit and a Janacek passage for a friend studying Czech music.
For summer, it's the Beach Boys' "Sloop John B." But I have an ever growing collection of tones for different moods. I'm a consumer.
i change mine up a lot…

i've had everything from 'banquet' by bloc party to 'intergalactic' by the beasties to my favorite… the super mario bros. theme.

but it's currently 'smile' by lily allen. *shrug* it's a fab summer song and it was quite appropriate at the time i applied it to my phone. i think i may be heading back to the super mario bros. theme soon though.
Software for ringtone creation? Can you explain? I'd love to get one particular song that I have as an MP3 converted into a ring tone, but I don't have the means. Also, I'm lazy.

you can also do it with a bluetooth adapter, which i keep meaning on buying…

on my last phone, i played it super cheap and just used the recorder function to record mp3s playing from my computer speakers and then applied as ringtones. it took some playing around with, but worked.
I don't really have a song ringtone yet, but I really want

muh na ma na (do do do do do) muh na ma na (do do do do)…
"fix up look sharp" – dizzee rascal
"seventeen years" – ratatat

ARG. my ex-boyfriend had that has a ringtone… it drove me nuts…

he had the muppets version. cake also has one though too.
People who use ringtones in public are assholes.
Interesting…I may have to try that.

i just held my phone up to the cd player and recorded.
I use the Pancake Mountain theme song.
What's so awesome is that I tried downloading software to shorten the song, then tried forcing a conversion to a midi file and emailing it to my phone, hoping to trick the software into letting it work, which it didn't.

And in about 20 minute, two of you came up with the same idea which is about 1,000 times easier. And it never crossed my mind. I'm lame.

it's ok. hilarious that you never thought of it and went to all that trouble… but ok nonetheless.

The Cars - Hello Again, but my phone is ALWAYS on vibrate unless I am at home, and I rarely answer it anyway
the trick is to keep the bit rate really really small
