I went last Friday night for Alcian Blue. The show space is better than at the last Art-o-matic. (I will refrain from commenting on acoustics.)

As someone who has run shows with that many bands, you better have:
1. A big hand clock or digital clock visible from stage.
2. Iron fisted stage manager who will cut a band when their time is up.
3. Shared drums and cabs. Not sharing adds 10 minutes to the set changes and makes the first song a soundcheck/drum tweak.
4. Get a listing of what everyone needs in their monitors to set that up from the start, this includes lineup (# guitars, singers, keys, acoustic, etc) and who needs what in the wedges where.
5. A good tip for the sound guy, that is going to be hell.
Been there, done that on time.

As far as monitors, they are virtually useless due to the fucked up acoustics. But we'll be prepared. I think I have 3 sound/tech guys to aid in the process. Still assume that you will need a minimum of 10 minutes between bands, and have the DJ anywhere but on stage (unless he gets his own dedicated space which would be cool). I salute whomever is doing the sound, I have singlehandedly done hell shows with 5 bands and 5 drum kits and it can be done, but you must be a hard ass, no extra songs or the last band's set will be nothing more than "Thankyougoodnight".

At least Ceton mentioned the show… albeit without any reference to BY. Easily the best night of music in DC tonite. Well, I hope to see some of you around. I might actually have to play MC tonite…
