o.a.r.??

i mean, they must be a good band for selling out two days in two seconds at nine thirty . . . but then again so could wilco, and they suck the term suck right out of the dictionary. i unfortunatley have never heard of o.a.r. or their music. Where can i go online to listen to some excerpts of what style they are in? and i can't believe what people are paying for them (tickets) on ebay.
tanks, random c. i knew you knew the info. i had searched yahoo and msn, and couldn't find their website. google did come through. a jam band?? and they can sell out nine thirty so quick. and here i thought nine thirty hated jam bands and the crowds they attract.
Seth likes they money they bring in. Gas isnt cheap right now and his S600 is real thirsty.
If you actually have seen a list of who/what has played the 9:30 I don't think you will find a genre untouched. Name a genre. Also Ratdog plays the 9:30, no jam band bigger than them that would play such a small venue.
how about the overproduced, lip synching, no talent, all my songs are covers or written by someone else genre?

and that rat dog show was awesome! my favorite part was that i saw MOE early and they were searching everyone's everything at the door; even my cigarette pack and hat . . . then when i showed up for ratdog, they didn't even bother to search. they like to keep the crowd guessing, i'm sure.
Dreamstreet? Does that fit the bill?

They played the same day the Genitorturers played (different shows though).
Didn't Galactic play two nights?
Galactic has done doubles on multiple occasions.
Say what you want, those jam bands bring in big crowds. Gotta admit that…

Safety in numbers, otherwise they'd indivually be arrested for possession, told to take a shower, wash their clothes, cut their hair and get a job. This way, travelling in packs like nomads, nobody hassles the unmotivated.
I don't know if "jamband" is a good way to define o.a.r. Their "jams" are usually played exactly the same at every show and they attract more of the drunken dmb fratboy crowd than actual jambands do. They're also too pop-sounding to be considered a jamband. The audio section of archive.org has plenty of their shit (and i mean that very literally) if you're interested.
this is my first post on this board, but i just wanted to say how funny you guys are.

now about OAR..im taking my friend to see them, but after reading all this drunken DMB type follwers im not so sure i want to leave smelling like frat boys.

Hey, first time posting… I definitely enjoy the wit on this board.

I had a brief exchange with a friend that I think sums up O.A.R. quite nicely. I said, "But they write the same song dozens of times and give that song a new name every time!"

She said, "I don't care, I like that song!"
They are better than that one jam band (I forget the name) whose solos consist of the same 3 note run up and down the neck of the guitar. Dee-dull-dee dee-dull-dee dee-dull-dee. That gets old real quick.

If you ask me, that's Dave Matthews. Saw a short set from him for the first time recently, and I was pretty surprised at how simple the structure of his songs is.

If it's so simple, how come in the last forty years noone else thought to do it and make the big bucks? I know the obvious response is its shiite. But if you can make that much money off of it, surely someone out there before him woulda done it.

I guess I've just never understood the term simple when it comes to music. I know its simple after the fact when someone has already made it up. But its probably not so simple to make up. Or maybe I'm just rambling.
