thankies to everyone for the birthday wishes… i'm still partying tonight and the gifts continue to flow.
someone took me out to lunch today and brought me a cake too. also, last night, someone brought me an inflatable monkey, a $25 itunes card and jello shots.
what i learned last night:
- rock star makes an alcoholic version of their energy drank.
- tide-to-go pens to not work on melted jello shot stains.
- i make better mixed cds than most people HOWEVER people get mad when it's not just top 40 radio hits.
- leis are really hot and itchy after a while.

i should probably have said, i make better mixed cds than most people i know.
anyway, i don't have it on me, obviously, but it's got the flaming lips, kaiser chiefs, spoon, decemberists, lily allen, muscles, klaxons, t-rex, ben kweller, ben folds and the postal service on it among other things - i can't remember all of it right now.
but it was meant to be a group-friendly summery, fun mix… but alas, i can't please everyone.

My usual critique of mixes is folks trying to find those brilliant songs that folks haven't heard, not paying attention to the mood or the reason for the gathering - those songs tend to be major buzz kills at parties. Bela Lugosi's Dead is a classic example of that from 80's parties - great song, probably never good in a large gathering however unless everyone's wearing black and the guys have more make-up on than the ladies.
But it looks like you made an effort to pick fun party songs so yes, your friends suck (it was your birthday so tell them to piss off!). Of course you ignored my Avril approved list which would have spared you all of this trouble….
