What if I don't have an iPod or use iTunes?
If I recall correctly, they offered the same option via Amazon.

You mentioned the iTunes pre-sale is over (unless I'm confused on that too).
Actually, the iTunes pre-sale happens this Thursday, August 2. The next pre-sale is next Thursday, August 9 and the password is right here on his site.
Thanks, Random.
To clarify: "How does he go from Sonar last year to Constitution Hall this year? Its frustrating to see him in a place like that."

The usual progression, as ability to draw crowds increases, often goes something like this: Friend's Party -> Galaxy Hut -> Iota/RnR Hotel -> Black Cat -> 930 Opener -> 930 headliner -> Patriot Center/Constitution hall -> Verizon center.
The step between Sonar and Constitution Hall is what I'm missing.
I doubt he'll ever play Verizon Center. Did you also notice that the Sonar show sold out pretty quickly? You just got lucky that he played Sonar. He could have played DAR at that time, but chose not to. Big acts *want* to play small venues sometimes, it's a fact.

Hey…Smashing Pumpkins just played the 930…will you be surprised if they play DAR next time around…?

Well I saw Ryan play the store window of Schoolkids Records in Chapel Hill and at the Brewery in Raleigh back in '97, as well as hanging out at the bar at the Old 97's show at Local 506 in Chapel Hill the same year. So fuck y'all. :p
Saw Ryan Adams at Foley's Cellar :)

Will Sheryl Crow make a special guest appearance at his show?

Your theory on progression is somewhat flawed as it ignores that some people will never play smaller venues thanks to good connections, opening for a larger band and gaining that fanbase, etc.

With regards to Ryan, I'm guessing you weren't around or into him when he's played the 9:30 several times over the years? All of which have sold out within a couple of days, if not minutes?
Or in the line that snaked outside Iota. Or at Whiskeytown's show at the Bayou in Georgetown.

Or, as already mentioned, he's played the Meyerhoff, which is a middle ground in our area between Sonar and DAR.

The Sonar show was not in support of any given album, so it was not as big of a deal; it was just him playing six months or so after he released his previous album, which is an eternity for him.

That said, this whole "quieter" Adams we are supposed to get at DAR is not getting me excited. I'll probably skip this show.

I don't know if he's quieter, he's just sitting down. Apparently, the recent shows sounded amazing.

He was quite chatty at the Portland show, less so at the Seattle one.

In Portland, the show closed with him walking to the front of the stage (there was already a mic stand in place), wearing sunglasses and singing "Goodnight, Hollywood Blvd." God, that show was great…
did the password work for anyone?? I typed in the password that was on his website and it said "The password you entered is not in our system. Please try again. "
ummm, the password from the website will work next week. This one is for the itunes presale!

I only had Random spell it out in the sand! ;)
cool, got me some preale tickets.

anyone ever sit in a "box seat"? i've never been to DAR, turned down ORCH row KK for Box 32, cause it didnt seem to be much different.

anyway, looking fwd to the show.
yup, i've sat in boxes numerous times at DAR and i'm a big fan if you can't get decent Orch seats. you indeed did the right thing taking the box seats over orch that far back - you'll have a clear line of sight, and people in the boxes are less likely to stand up for an entire show (not sure what ryan adams shows are like, tho). get there on the early side since boxes are GA. each one has 5 moveable chairs in it, get there first to grab the two at the front (although you might want the two along the side/inner edge). if given a choice i prefer boxes 11 through 26.

why hasn't anyone posted that annoying and oh-so-original south park "dar dar!" picture yet?
I almost reserved one of the box seats for those reasons. Thanks for the add'l information.
