Question for those of you who may be in the know - Is this show even close to selling out? I had planned on just getting tickets at the door tomorrow night……You think this is a pretty safe bet?
Soul Brains (Bad Brains)
Last week's weekly 9:30 e-mail included a 2 for 1 coupon for the show, which would indicate that there are a lot of tickets left.

we could meet somewhere before the show for the exchange, probably in bethesda or rockville.
:)
moderator comment:
all ticket related posts should go to the ticket exchange.

So who all is going tonight?

I saw them in Philly in 95 or so, but HR had some sort of a meltdown that night and they only played about 3 songs before they left the stage.
I never thought I would ever get to see them, so I am looking forward to it!
I'm going. Trying to find out the camera policy. Posted in the FAQ section, but no reply yet.

Anyone around here seen them in the past year or two? How was it?
I saw them last time they played 930, a couple of years ago. Good show. 1st half was hardcore, 2nd half was reggae. It was kind of cool to have the show broken up that way.
ill be there of course
The Astralwerks newsletter said they played a lot of Bad Brains stuff in NYC? Not sure how reliable that is.
I would love to have gone but I'm missing it as I type. It's a bitch living so far away and having to be responsible once in awhile.
The opening band - Murphy's Law - was one of the worst acts I've ever seen. And I generally like mindless punk.
Soul Brains came on 45 minutes late. The sound wasn't great. My watch got broken. My shirt got ripped. My ankle got bloodied. Some dude fell on my head at the end of the show.
Nonetheless, I had an excellent time. Maybe not top of the list of shows this year, but it was just great hearing some old Bad Brains stuff and watching HR.
Anybody know what's in his bag?

Yeah Murphey's law were terrible. I mean who could possibly think that playing a cover of ZZ Top's "Tush" is a good idea? That band was nothing more than a novelty when they were "relevant" in like 1987. That singer grates my nerves something fierce. Nuff said.
Bad Brains kept everyone waiting forever…no surprise there. When they finally started playing it was obvious to me that HR is just up there getting paid. He doesn't want to play those old songs anymore. He just wants to do the Reggae thing….problem is, in my opinion, all the reggae they played sounded like shit. At least the band sounded good on all the old stuff I heard
We left early, probably about mid-way through their set. Did anyone notice that when the band started playing "Sailin On" HR started singing "Attitude"? I'm pretty sure he did this on pupose since "Attitude was the first song they played.
I held out some hope that the Bad Brains might put on a decent show but HR is all washed up. Last time I ever go see that band. At least it was only 10 bucks w/ the 2 for 1 deal! And the night wasn't a total loss. I hung out with my good friend and had a tasty dinner before the show.

Thought the show was pretty good overall. HR's vocals could have been turned up a bit and I wish they would have played longer.
Was that the last show on the tour or are there more dates?

Its shame about HR really..he has cost that band every good opportunity they ever had and nobody wants them without him in the fold. Earl, Daryl, and Dr. Know are great musicians, its a shame they are stuck with him. A band this influential deserved a lot better. They tried to make a go without him with Chuck Moseley from Faith No More in the 90's on Columbia Records with "Rise"(who was given some rasta name when he joined the band) but it flopped. I had high hopes in 95/96 when they were signed to Madonna's Maverick Records and given rotation on 120 minutes with the "God of Love" video. Maverick signed them to a major label deal under the understanding that HR had to be back in the band. Once again, HR went off the deep end and crack somebodies skull open with a mic stand..end of tour..end of promotion from Maverick.
