so i'm torn
problem 1: millencollin show
pros:
- nostalgia for high school
- nostalgia for a boy i once loved
- early show so i get my beautysleep
- they're swedish – they're the punk rock hives but better!
- i'll feel superior to a lot of the young kids
cons:
- you guys will make fun of me
- spending money = bad
- earlyshow so i go home early and feel lame
- they're swedish: i simultaneously love and loathe scandinavians
- i'll feel dated when i see other people my age and my noetic stance shifts
problem 2: they might be giants show
pros:
- they're effing funny
- accordions!!!!!
- nostalgia for my whole nerdy lifetime
- a guy i'm dating likes them
cons:
- you guys will make fun of me
- my geekiness will be emphasized
- they're sucky of late
- $25??????

I will NOT make fun of you. If I'm in town, and have some folks who will go, I plan to be at the TMBG show. Alas, sorry it's $25 and you're trying not to save money. But, the think with a TMBG show is that a good one is really, really excellent. They and the crowd have so much energy and really enjoy the whole show. And the next day is New Year's Eve, so even if you have to go to work, no one will be doing much. Be a little hung over! (If I go, I'll buy you a drink.) If TMBG emphasize geekiness, I say bring it on.
Don't know millencollin. But my gut says, go with the band your current guy likes! Will he go with you?
I like early shows during the week. A Saturday early show could be a downer if you don't have anything to do after, though. But, you should come to the Velvet Lounge for Washington Social Club after! So you do have something to do!! I'm going (with a big crowd, both with me and there already…). Man how I wish the White Stripes show were an early show!
Sorry for all the exclamation points. I get in a mood, sometimes. it's really my way of 'smiling' while I say something.

There's never any shame in enjoying what you enjoy.
That being said, a Millencolin crowd might make me sick to the ol' stomache. I can only take so many sk8trs!!!!!!
and TMBG are cool. I don't like 'em, (and they sure as hell aren't worth $25), but they're cool.

Screw them both and instead go to see Mando Diao. They are Swedes and better than both those bands.
Okay, that's just my opinion but do what YOU want to do.

Stick around and see the scratch show. That should be great, the last one was. Some of those old-school djs have skills that are unbelievable.

Hmmm, kat, I'm having a hard time describing WSC. A friend said "punky-pop" – they have so much energy, it's fast, bouncy, loud melody-based guitar pop.
Anyone, anyone?

That's pretty accurate. I think there are soundclips on their website
www.washingtonsocialclub.com They have a lot more energy live than they do on their CD. Good CD. Great live band. I'll probably go Saturday, if I can get the SO to agree.
