If a man now has the opportunity to date beautiful women deemed by society as the most desireable whereas in the past he only had the opportunity to date lesser attractive women, in most people's eyes, he has made progress.

why do you have to condescend me at every turn? do you need reassurement of your age, maturity, or gender? what is it you're trying to prove by your admonishing me?
I was not being condescending. I was merely suggesting that a child of 16 really shouldn't put herself in a position where she could potentially become pregnant. (You seem like a bright girl with a good future ahead of you; having a baby at your age probably is not a wise decision?)
And if she insists on having sex, hopefully it's in a loving relationship, and she is responsible enough to be on the pill, take it diligently, and thus prevent the possibility of an an unwanted pregnancy.
