The cloud room

Well I have not liked any new music for almost 12 months, but WOXY just played something that made me pay attention….

The cloud room: hey now now
Whatev, Pitchfork b*itchfork… The full length isn't as solid but "Hey Now Now" is a fantastic song–number 58 in my top 65 of 2005.
Top 65? Isn't that a little eccentric?

Ok, I might just check it out. I have not liked anything else in ages.

what did you expect listening to dc101?
But albums by bands I normally like have done nothing for me:

Decemberists
Gomez
Fiona apple
The national
Idlewild

the list goes on and fucking on. I like the National a lot more now, but it is still not as good as their last album.

one of my favorite songs of last year as well - get the album so I can borrow it from you!
So do you have any other recommendations to get me out of my hate all new music funk? A Rhettectomy?

I had neither time nor inclination to limit the list to a top 50, so this year itâ??s a top 65!

The entire list is here: http://www.blisspop.com/playlist.html if you want to check it out and nod slightly, wince, hit the ceiling, wink, or say "oh!"

I think the Fiona Apple and National are very good, I agree with the others though

Hey Now Now sounds like first album British Sea Power to me, which is probably why it appeals to you

people who buy 2 albums a year appear to like the new Kate Bush, its not bad

oh and I think you should add Metric to the disappointing follow up list

others have said The Dead 60s sound like the clash

or you could look here

and here

I thought that, and obviously Bowie,

"Starman - David Bowie

Intro:
C G C G
Hey now now

Verse 1
Am
Didn't know what time it was, lights were low oh oh
G
I leaned back on my radio oh oh
D D7 G A C A
Some cat was layin' down some rock 'n' roll, lotta' soul, he said."
Sounds like it's time for alt-country…

I didn't like the last Lamchop album(s) either.
Not really diggin The Dead 60's who sound more like The Specials then the Clash.. The new Coral is in line with the first record. If you like edge guitar sounds the Sugarplastic record is great.

You should start listening to jazz.

And wearing a beret, Daddy-O.

I got the coral. It is Ok, but it has lost the spastic naivety the first album had. They were never the unicorns, being so polished and all, but the songs did go all over the place, a bit like early gomez…..
