well, it was always my understanding that doug makes up the set list as he plays the show. last time i saw them he seemed to either just start playing something or tell the other guys what to start playing if it was a song where he doesn't start. anywhoo, killer set lists, they put on a great show, i'll be there saturday. they do seem like the sort of band that wouldn't really play the same thing on back to back nights in the same town.

Did anyone else see the latest 9:30 email this morning offering a 2 for 1 deal on BTS tickets to Saturdays show? Apparently, if you print out the email and bring it along, you can get in for half price. I wonder if it's not selling like they thought it would.
I'd love to go both night, but I don't know if I have the cash to swing it. Sure is tempting, though.

I have not gotten this, or any email, from the 9:30 Club. And that email might put it over the top for me to go Sat. Wasn't going to, but certainly won't if I know I could get two for one tickets but don't have the email!
It's like buying shit at Macy's when you know there's a 20% coupon out there. I won't do it!

Well it sounds like a match – NKOTB has the e-mail, and Bags has the motivation. Why don't you kids make it a date?

Thanks, nkotb – another *lovely* boardie sent me the email. I think I won't make it regardless, but it was cool seeing the email generally. And who knows, I may convince my friend in town for the weekend to go!

Bags, NKOTB – I'm sorry to hear that Chuck Woolery failed to make a match.
I just may be at the show tonight if it doesn't sell out.

Yeah, I noticed how quickly NKOTB noted that his GIRLFRIEND is in for the weekend.
Hey, I understand. And remember, I'm afraid to meet people from the board anyway! (I admit, that may dissipate over time) ;)

Yeah, I realized after I posted that how odd is seemed. Just to reassure you bags, it wasn't to get out of meeting you or anything. I just wanted to make sure I didn't get another 9:30 forum stalker. And for the record, yes, I mean you Lulu.

That's fantastic! Though, in high school, my best friend carried a bottle of Riunite Lambrusco to parties, and I went with a Rosato….damn, I can't remember the 'Vineyard'…

omigolly, i'm counting on this show not selling out! it completes the triumvirate of rock-rollery that is the first weekend in Oct. Who else could cap off the great SFA/Grandaddy and then the superawesome Rainer Maria other than Doug Martsch?????

Excellent Saturday show by Built to Spill. Could have done without the extended reggae jam in Cortez the Killer though.

Just out of curiosity, is there anyone out there who went to one of these shows who thinks that The Delusions DIDN'T suck? I was at the Friday show, and they had to be one of the worst opening bands I've ever seen. Maybe they would have been all right with their original bass player instead of Doug Martsch sitting in, but as they were . . . BLEAH! The 9:30 Club web site had been saying all day that the order of the bands would be Delusions/Solace Brothers/BtS, and I've got to say that the Delusions were so incredibly lame that I was really annoyed that the web site turned out to be wrong.
Oh, and in line with the title of this thread, does anyone have a set list from the Friday show?

I wouldn't say they sucked, but they definitely weren't good, in my opinion. Then again, i wasn't as impressed with Built to Spill's set as i thought i would be. I left during the reggae jam, thinking that only for that sweet voice would i walk so dangerously on the cusp of jam band patronage.
