In honour of the Mats reissues...

Ok, first of all don't be riding my ass because I'm praising a band that is more than three years old…

But wasn't/isn't Tommy Stinson the coolest rock star ever?

Check him out at 1:23, 2:05, 2:38, 3:16, 3:20 and the final spit take. I think I have a man crush. I mean that was towards the end and he was only 23! Plus, he looked like Nick Rhodes. Shame he's spent the last ten years with "Guns N Roses" who haven't released a single record in said ten years.

Brian

P.S. I KNOW they were a legendary drunk punk band but this was towards the end. Were they REALLY that f'ed up in that video or were they ACTING drunk?
I saw The Replacements a couple times and would love to comment and answer your question, however you are an asshole and as such, I won't.

tommy sounds great there, bass-line is jumping all over the place … matt dillon at the end is pretty funny
Best band of the 80's. Put on some great shows in the DC area - my only regret is not ever seeing Bob with the band. Had tix to see them at the old 930 but Paul broke his hand stage diving in NYC a couple of days earlier and by the time they rolled around again Bob had been canned. Still, the show at the Bayou in '87 remains my favorite concert experience ever.
wow brian, you might actually have a decent soul after all. Why on earth would anyone rag on you for liking an old band?

Anyway, I really love the replacements. My friend got me into their music about ten years ago and yes i was only 12 at the time. When I first heard one of their songs, I actually thought they were a new band. Funny how something that was actually released around the time I was born still sounds so fresh and sharp in modern times.

ps- It's alright to have a crush on Tommy Stinson. I used to be all girl crazy for The Mats, but then again that was just based on their lyrics alone. For years, I had no clue what they looked like. But seriously, if someone wrote me songs like they have, I'd marry the guy haha.
Here's an awesome snapshot of that 1987 tour. Nevermind/IOU from Cincinnati. Pretty much exemplifies everything awesome about the era. Its Cincy but you can almost smell the old 9:30
