Alejandro Escovedo Roll Call

Alejandro and his band at the Barns of Wolf Trap on Thursday. The last time I saw him here was one of the most memorable concerts I have ever seen.
I'll be there - anyone else?

Apparantly I am now (missing it). Oh well. I think I'll stop trying and responding to roll calls. ;)

Not a problem with the tickets, I hope.

if i didn't have a house show to tend to on friday, i'd definitely be thinking of going. alejandro just came at a bad time for me this year.
if i get out early enough (by 8) tomorrow, i'd think about trying to get a ticket outside, but wolf trap ain't that kind of place.

I hear ya. It's a busy weekend. If it wasn't I'd like to head up to Tin Angel to see him.

Where were y'all 4 or 5 years ago when it was just me, my friend, and the DCCD store clerks that poor Alejandro was playing for? He was so distraught he went to the van early to shoot up.

I was probably hearing this story for the first time, or maybe it just feels like it was that long ago ;)

Well you see…there was this blue haired girl. She gave me backstage passes to the Pixies in London.
I got to talking with Black Francis, and he told me that I needed to stop listening to alt-rock and start listening to alt-country. He said that alt-rock was going to turn into total crap by the mid to late 90's. Then he said that the Pixies were going to break up and reform in the 2000's and make a ton of money.
Thanks for making all that possible, blue haired girl.

didn't he open for Calexico or someone like that at Iota a few years ago. Macha might have been there with them, too.

well, as expected Alejandro was pretty fucking awesome last night
he, 2 cellists, a violinist and another guitarist 'rocked' out the whole night long - a shortish set, I thought but then again, I would have been happy with him playing all night
theres just something really special about seeing him at a place like the Barns
