I third the Ness version (shocker), second the Cowboy Junkies tune and would add Edie Brickell's version of "A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall" from the Born on the 4th of July Soundtrack.

The LIVE version they used to play during the Appetite-era WAS really great (Check out the version from 1987 at the Marquee in London. It's a B-side of the "Yesterdays" CD-single.)

The version they put on "Use Your Illusion II" wasn't. Then to make matters worse, on the Illusions tour, Axl would yell out, about midway through: "Give me some reggae!" and it got even worse. Check out their performance at the Freddie Mercury tribute gig for an example.

Looking up that song on itunes gave me both the ministry and the isaac hayes versions, both of which are going to be included. they're sick.
