first i thought i had seen it all when scoping the line-up at the norva in norfolk, which usually sports the fine music of bands like danzig, to see that the backstreet boys are playing there. now they are playing nine thirty, and i am like . . . is this cool, or is this stupid. i'm not sure, really. for some reason, people who hated theses bands when they were kings of the pop money machine, find them comically cool to go see, now that they are forever has-beens. wierd.

MARCH 7–Meet Nick Carter. The Backstreet Boy, 25, was arrested Saturday night on a drunk driving charge. According to Huntington Beach, California cops, the singer was pulled over at about 7:30 PM for a traffic violation and was determined to be drunk during questioning by police. After failing a field sobriety test, Carter was booked into the Huntington Beach City Jail (where the below mug shot was snapped) and released after four hours in custody. Carter was issued a citation and, according to a police spokesman, officers are determining whether to file additional charges against the performer. Carter, best known recently as a Paris Hilton boyfriend of the month, is scheduled to join his Backstreet Boy comrades in New York on March 21 as they kick off the group's first U.S. tour in several years.
