What made it frustrating if you found some gems?

And does anyone agree that this isn't what you'd describe as a "pure pop" album (but so many reviews do….I must be missing something).

It's definitely not pure pop. I think it's a challenging record if only in the sense that it does require multiple listens (but those are often the best records). The first four months or so that I had the album, I only listened to it every once in a while and I did feel that it was overhyped. Then last month, I had another listen and for some mysterious reason, it just clicked. I still don't like it as much as Pitchfork, but it is a solid album, and the more I listen to it, the more I like it.
