V Fest

Had a great time, the only real suggestion I could offer is with the water refill and water sales. More water refilling areas would be great, I understand there is a supply issue but if there is a way to get more water there it would be great.

Since the liens for the refilling stations were so long we often set out to buy water. Unfortunately the only places to buy water were also some of the busiest - The Bars. The huge selection at the bar was great, a very nice touch but it made the line move slow (since there were so many choices and things to make). When I simply wanted a water I had to wait 20 minutes in the bar line to get it. Maybe next year there could be dedicated water only sales places, the turnover time is very low since the only choice is water (I have seen this at other festivals and it works really well)

Thanks for the great festival, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and hopefully it was successful enough to go again next year.

i don't know where you were… but i never had any issue either day of walking up to a counter to buy a bottle of water. i think the longest line i was in was maybe two minutes. max. nearly every single vendor had water to sell it seemed.

i think 55 minutes… which is like what, 3 songs?
an hour is about standard for them (at least when i saw them, last time was 3 years ago or so.) they might be playing longer setlists when they headline now though, since they're a "bigger" band now.
oh. and i almost forgot to mention. dan deacon got another shirt. at least… i haven't seen too too many photos of him in it. it's orange and white striped - i think he wore it one day at whartscape.

photographic evidence to be posted this evening.

During the day it seemed the vendors by the dance tent had really long lines, but late afternoonish it was about a 2-5 minute wait in line to get a burger and water for me.

'TREES, DO THE SEXY DANCE!'
What an awesome 2 days!

Day 1

Fratellis were high energy for so early in the day. Was not too familiar with there music but was pleasantly surprised. Nice way to start the day.

Caught part of Amy Winehouse. Just terrible. No energy.

Say what you want about Incubus but I thought they put on a great performance. Boyd is quite the performer.

Ben Harper was the biggest surprise of the day. I have always liked him but I was not expecting much from him live. I was completely wrong however as he put on probably the best or second best performance of day one. He has such a naturally good voice and his band was outstanding. His songs were much more up tempo then on his records. I would love to see him next time he comes around for a full set.

Beastie Boys were outrageous. Probably put on the best performance of the day. I loved how they sampled a few newer songs and mixed them into there hits. The instrumental stuff was terrible but I believe they only played 3 so it was not a big deal. Money Mark is hilarious. Not bad for some middle aged white men raping.

The Police were good. Not great. Got off to a great start with Message In a Bottle but slowed down considerably. Wrapped Around Your Finger was the highlight of the set for me. Roxanne sucked. Sting cant hit those high notes anymore and totally ruined the song by slowing it down. Left midway through that crappy version of Roxanne and caught the last 30 minutes of Modest Mouse who were quite good.

Day 2

Started the day with Girl Talk. Gillis is an amazing performer. I think he is incredibly talented. Its to bad he only had a half hour…

I was impressed by Matisyahu. Sounded better live then I had been led to believe. Highlight was when he brought his son on stage who then proceeded to waddle half way across the stage and back with his big head phones on.

<img src="http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/6818/matisyahu3qb8.jpg" alt=" - " />

Spoon was a major disappointment. To big of a stage for them maybe? Left a lot to be desired.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs were good. Not all their music is necessarily my type but still very good overall. Karen O is nuts.

Interpol was for me the biggest surprise of day 2. I had low expectations as I had not given them much of a chance prior, however they were excellent. They had big shoes to fill with Smashing Pumpkins on deck but they did a great job and got the crowd going in anticipation for the Pumpkins.

Smashing Pumpkins were amazing. The obvious headliner of the 2 day event, they did not disappoint. Fantastic set. I can not state enough how awesome they were and what an awesome ending they were to the festival!

Thanks Seth!
Did anyone see the Velvet Revoler/311 GNR cover? Or was that a joke? And did anyone catch Matisyahu come on stage with 311 for "The Love Song"? That was pretty cool.

great weekend.

Beastie boys were a 10.
Girl Talk and Dan Deacon were awesome. (HORSEY HORSEY!)
Bad brains were excelent, i would LOVE to see them at the club
Explosions in the sky were great
Cheap Trick was a lot of fun

those were my favorites.
anybody happen to have wu-tang's setlist? my friend said they played mostly the big singles, but i'm curious what else i missed – any solo-album songs? thanks.

I should clarify that this was only on Saturday, Sunday was a breeze getting to any vendor. On Saturday we picked a "random" food line in the long section of food and found they did not do water. Lesson learned, waled up to the front of the line at the SoCo place to see if they had water before waiting in line, found they did not either. Another vendor did lemonade, but again no water.

All directed us to the sign that said water (at the bar/beer/drink booths) and at least on Saturday all around the main stage and dance area the lines were fairly long in duration, granted this was between sets when everyone was walking out looking for a drink.

It was just a bit of constructive criticism, I remember at places like Coachella there were dedicated water only booths, at Lolla they were water/beer/wine but the total number of choices was like 5 (2 beers, 2 wines or water) making the line move well.

I love the bar availibility at Virgin, but it does make for much slower lines and slower waits for water.

The only one I remember was Da Rockwilder (Method Man & Redman)
