This Year's VMAs...

So I'm checking out the nominees for this year's MTV Video Music Awards and I saw this and was taken aback a bit. Granted I don't watch much on MTV anymore but Super Sweet 16 and Engaged and Underage or whatever…
I hear they still play videos in the AM? Is this true? I have no idea, but anyway…Here was the shocker for me.

Video of the year nominees
Beyonce: Irreplaceable
Rhiana f/ Jay-Z: Umbrella
Justin Timberlake: What Goes Around
Kanye West: Stronger
Amy Winehouse: Rehab

and…
Justice: D.A.N.C.E.
The rest of the categories/nominees

P.S. Brian Wallace - Hey There Delilah was nominated for 'monster single of the year.'
I would love to see Justice win because that means we'll get to watch another Kanye tirade when he loses.

Oh hell no.
JUSTICE?!

FUCKING JUSTICE?!?!?!?!??!

Wow. MTV actually does something right. What's next a performance by Daft Punk?

And I stay up way into the wee hours of the morning, MTV starts playing just videos around 2 or 3 and so does MTV and VH! starts "Nocturnal State" at 3 where they play videos until about 6. The catch? 2 videos then a 5 minute commercial break. Im usual on my computer though.

That Justice video is money though, saw it a long long time ago. My friend called it "trendy". I got a Justice pin made for me at V Fest.

please no.
Justice nomination seems like an easy token 'cred' gambit. Like the token Indie-ish movie that goes up for best picture as a dark horse and never wins.

Speaking of Daft Punk, what are thoughts on Kanye's 'Puff Daddy circa 1997-ization' of DP on "Stronger"? The video looks cool but the song is pathetic to me. "Since OJ was wearing isotoners" is such a weak lyric it would make will.i.am and Fergie embarrassed.
Didn't they present an award on the 2001 VMA's?

This may require a running diary….

I miss Lulu.
It's reading threads like these that make me realize that I'm soooo much older than some of you guys!
they did a GAP commercial too with Juliette Lewis a long time ago

yikes!

and doesnt Kanye sample them on his new record?
I definitely haven't watched MTV since they played videos, but there's a channel on my system that I accidently came across and now it's on my favorites list on the clicker.

Not sure if it's unique to satellite (Dish Network) or not, and I think it's probably pretty repetitive but since I haven't seen ANY videos in years outside of artist's DVDs it was cool to see something new.

As far as the awards, what is the point of any award given by MTV?

To confirm that suburban teenagers can emit high-pitched shrills & screams at the mere mention of your name.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Most of those nominees for "Best Group" made me laugh.

"Stronger" is a crappy crappy song and. At least Busta Rhymes made his sample of DP listenable. Hopefully Justice wins again to Kanye will be a sore loser again.
