I'm heading to LA and....

…it happens to be on the worst weekend of shows possible. Other than Handsome Boy Modeling School, which is a stretch IMHO, what can I do the nights and days of 1/6 - 1/10. Smackie, anyone?
Pretty Girls Make Graves at the El Rey on the 8th, otherwise, that's going to be a tough week. Most bands are playing New Years Gigs and taking the next week off.

Check out www.laweekly.com or www.ocweekly.com for updates about "secret" shows on sunset.

I'll get back you after I spend the holidays there if I hear of anything.
I will be in LA the following week (Jan 12 - 17). Do you know where I can find info on hiphop/rap concerts going on during that time?

Thanks

Yeah, that was the fallback show, but it is actually cancelled. It is pretty dead.
I just went to a few clubs when I was there last year. Can't remember the names of them though.

Hope that helped.

your posts always do….
Jon Brion at Largo on 1/7 Largo. Even if you don't like him you need to go to this club. The rest of their schedule should be updated soon.
Knitting Factory seems to be like Black Cat w/ two stages. I have no idea who some of these bands are on those dates. Check 'em out.
SoHo SB Should update their calendar soon.
Don't forget to visit: Amoeba and Fingerprints (both have in-stores at times)
Record Stores
Also check Wiltern LG or HOB schedules.
Alright, headed out next week, any last minute suggestions or things I should know? The show schedule still blows unless there is something i'm missing. Anything else I "need" to see?
I would check out Jon Brion's weekly gig at Largo
Ditto. Probably not somebody you're going to get to see around here anytime soon.

largo's a great spot……

the futureheads are doing a live show at amoeba music in hollywood on the 10th (check out the amoeba…calling a great record store is a massive understatement)
