I need some new gym music…recently I've been listening to New Order and Pulp a lot and digitalism when I'm on the elliptical.
suggestions……?

I listen to Santogold, Les Savy Fav, Pulp, Sleater-Kinney, Le Tigre, Of Montreal, LCD Soundsystem, MIA, The Smiths. (also Horse to Water, I'm Gonna DJ, and Living Well's the Best Revenge off REM's new one is awesome for running)
For cool down, usually Neko Case or the Shins.

Mostly old-school punk - Ramones, X, Fear, Husker Du, The Clash, Buzzcocks, Black Flag, The Damned, etc. Short, fast songs that keep me going.

Mine is a lot like this for when I'm skating. Sprinkle in there some Go! Team, Yeah Yeah Yeahs remixes, Hot Chip and some Girl Talk and Peaches and that's pretty much what fills my shuffle for workouts.

I'd have never thought Pulp would be workout music. I guess "Common People" and "Disco 2000" would be good to get the heart pumping but what else? "The Day After the Revolution?" "Pink Glove?" "Happy Endings?"
I'll have to try that. Pulp for working out. Thanks for the tip. Do I have to stare at the middle-aged women in the aerobics class though, all J. Cocker-like?

wait, i thought Brian only liked bands from today? Certainly Pulp fits nicely into the same category as Radiohead, Wilco and thousands of other bands indie kids claim to be important and influential, yet dont make a blip on the album sales / pop culture scene.
Guess his arguments ARE completely without merit after all. He just likes to trash bands he doesnt like. just like the rest of us.

Yeah, they just become junkies and die in their prime. Guess that makes Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty real punks.

unless i need to catch up on something (i.e. new album of a band i'm seeing soon), i only listen to electronic dance music in the gym. my heart rate synchs up with the music. i won't bore y'all with names of producers you've never heard of before and don't care to hear about anyways :)

Electronic artists or poppy-punky bands, the names of which I'd get flamed for listing.

Well, they do, they smash their guitars on stage instead of pissing and moaning about the lack of security like the so-called punks of today. FAGS!!!!

no, not at all. plenty of other fans of electronica on here. but i recognize that the downtempo and trance that i listen to are pretty obscure, even for this board (exception made for azaghal, but i suspect there very very little that he doesn't listen to).
but since you've expressed interest, lately i've been listening to: minilogue, freaked frequency, kularis, tristan, solar fields, prometheus, human blue, bamboo forest, and various compilations (dj bim, groove machines and grooveydelika on current rotation).
cue the haters.

Pulp songs for running:
"Do you remember the first time"
"Lipgloss"
"She's a Lady"
"Babies"
For some reason. I've also been listening to Battles.

Confession:
I totally work out to Pulp, too.
And usually end up listening to the Clash, and other upbeat dancey things on shuffle…depends on my mood, though.
