Anyone else go?
Some random musings:
1. I liked them better when they were awkward and their music was quirkier. I still like them, but they have gotten pretty polished.
2. Early contender for Most Annoying Light Show of 2008.
3. When the little girls from Smoosh came out during Tokyo Police Club's set and danced around, a fellow boardie leaned over and noted, "Oh, man…vansmack would love this."
4. Nothing against TPC, but it's a sad commentary on DC that TPC sells out the Black Cat on a Tuesday night and the genius known as Jay Reatard can only pull ~200 on a Saturday night.

Maybe he should play longer than 30 minutes.

120% agree with the light show. WTF! Hey, let's blind our audience so they can't even see in front of them! It wasn't too bad when they were all red lights, but still I can't stand when bands blind the crap out of the crowd. Turn down the intensity for different clubs!
I think the creepiest thing was someone asking me how old the girls in Smoosh were and when i said "I think they're around 17" He replied back "Are any of them younger?" as he had his camera ready to take pics of them.

I flew into Dulles last night for a quick trip and thought about going just for the shit of it. I'm sorry I missed it.

I love TPC, but didnt go. Glad to hear they are still kicking ass. They played some great shows last year in the area. No light shows, but great music. Hopefully they come back to dc/baltimore sooner than later.

tokyo police club was one of the most boring bands that i booked in dc in the past five years. it figures they are getting huge. one minute of jay reatard is more exhilarating than anything TPC does.
