Waldorf = Ghetto

– Teen starlet Hilary Duff , describing her boyfriend of two years, Good Charlotte lead singer Joel Madden , a native of Waldorf, in the July issue of Elle magazine. This statement is so offensive in so many ways we don't even know where to begin.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $68,869, and the median income for a family was $71,439.

oh, and this is why they are spotted lunching at Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda…i hear that's pretty ghetto, too.

That's really not that much higher than the median income levels of PG County, and part of PG County is ghetto, isn't it?

I live near Waldorf. It's not "ghetto" as in crime-ridden or anything, but it's certainly trashy as hell most of the time. I imagine to an upper middle class girl from Houston currently living in Hollywood, it might seem ghetto.

I think it's worth noting that she was, in a roundabout way, trying to be complimentary.

I saw Joel (or Benji) at P.F. Chang's in White Flint with his little entourage. But really, who the fuck cares? Good Charlotte and Hillary Duff suck ass. So does Sum 41 and Avril Lavigne. But Lindsey Lohan rules.

La Plata HS, '97 writes: I graduated from high school with Benji and Joel Madden of Good Charlotte and they are NOT from Waldorf, despite their claim. They grew up in Charlotte Hall, which is actually "the sticks," not "the ghetto" . . . Ha! Those guys are the biggest posers.

La Plata, Waldorf, Charlotte Hall. Who cares. It's like arguing over whether someone is from Annandale, Springfield or Dunn Loring. All equally boring and uncool places.

And I don't know what's funnier…Good Charlotte supposedly lying about being from Waldorf to bolster their street cred or that guy writing to the Post and saying they're poseurs for saying so.

No, I disagree. I'd do Hilary Duff if I had the choice, then Lindsay Lohan and Avril would fight it out for 2nd place, because sometime Avril looks a'ight and sometimes she's all :o .

Like DC, with it's wonks and number crunchers and segregated populalation, is the benchmark of cool. Hahahaha.

I would call Waldorf more white trash than ghetto. I admit that I haven't been there in a couple years, but I used to drive through there for work all the time back in the 90s. Before the megastores took over 301 and all that. And who here when you go to California or other far away place would say you are from Olney or Towson. Then it is 10 minutes explaining where you are from. Easier to say around Baltimore or DC, if not in them. The GC thing about Waldorf is just a local version of this.

And they are nice guys, don't slag them too much, they even remember their roots. Their music is not my thing, but hey I respect them for being successful at their chosen profession.

That's it, we're totally fighting at the Vanity Champ show.
