Return of the Show Conflict Thread!

Antony.
Honestly, it's really between Antony and Britney. I mean, I feel like the trainwreck potential for this is HUGE, and I want to be there.
Autolux V. Motorhead V. Melvins/Weedeater/Down

Mono V. Polvo V. Jandek/Tim Hecker
Jandek wasn't great live when I saw him. He wasn't even good, tbh, very sloppy. I'd go to Polvo.
azaghal, where is polvo on the 26th?  baltimore?

regarding jandek, no two performances are even remotely alike.  it's all improvisation, whether it's solo jandek or with a band.  and if it's with a band, each band member must have never played with the other band members previously.

i'm actually playing with jandek at this performance; he chose me amongst a list of local percussionists, so i am greatly honored.  the other musicians are anton nikkila (from finland), alexei borisov (from russia), and pekka airaksinen (from finland, who founded the obscure but seminal '60s experimental/dadaist band the sperm).  nikkila and borisov play electronics, and airaksinen plays keyboards, electronics, and various percussion.

this will definitely be a strange jandek show, heavy on the electronics and strange percussion.  there won't be much linear rock n roll, that's for sure.

Sat Sept 26- POLVO $15 Mainstage 9:00
damn. polvo and jandek in dc on the same night?

we just worked out the sonic circuits schedule for the 26th.  i can't promise it will be to the minute, but we do have to follow this schedule closely:

jandek: 9-10
kotra: 10-10:30
ergo: 10:45-11:15
tim hecker: 11:30-12:15
gunter hampel: 12:30-1:15

you could see jandek first, run over to see polvo, and then get back to see some tim hecker or gunter hampel. that's a pretty killer night of music, imo.
There's no telling when Tim Hecker will be back and that new album of his is fantastic. I'm thinking I'll just stick around the velvet.

don't get me wrong, polvo has been amazing both times i've caught them in the past year, but sonic circuits will be special. saturday's lineup does not have one dud.

polvo and faust back-to-back…the black cat has redeemed itself of all those lame dance night cluttering up the weekend schedule.  well, almost!

agreed. no way i'm missing hecker. i'll be camping out the velvet louge all night.
A friend almost talked me into going to one of those dj nights last week.

Now I'm torn between Sunn 0)))/Eagle Twin  at sonar (the fact that this is at Sonar doesn't help this show) and the 9/23 SC lineup. Fern Knight are always great.
same night as Mono at RnR Hotel…
I think I'm going to go to Sonic Circuits. Going to be up the day before for YYYs and the ability to buy tickets in advance makes attending the Velvet Lounge a more palatable option.
Dean Wareham (U St Hall) vs Kraftwerk early show

I have a ticket for kraftwerk early show i got for 15$ but man i love dean (not to mention britta!) and he hasn't been in town in forever… since that free show at the national gallery of art where suddenly there were thousands of people wanting to see it… the power of free…

sell my $15? go see dean and then try to buy a ticket for the late kraftwerk show

maybe too ambititious for me these days…

can't help thinking I just know Dean would go see Kraftwerk if he was in my shoes!

I find his new album a tad boring, but I'd choose that over Kraftwerkin.
I couldn't turn down the $15 Kraftwerk ticket, either.
Dean will be back barring something unforeseen. No telling whether Kraftwerk will or not.

Yeah I know Florian's not there, etc. but will it really sound much different without him? Doubtful.

Ralf once said that Florian did nothing but stand in front of his table and press a few buttons since 1983. I guess they don't get along very well anymore.

At least, since he left, they started to play ~20 more older songs, although obviously they might only play a few of them tomorrow.
I mean if they still played any of the songs that featured his undeniably awesome flute playing, sure it would make a difference but they haven't done that since the early 70's.

The setlist is probably the same for the whole tour. BV has one of the NY ones up.
how long do kraftwerk play?

i could see kraftwerk takin stage at 7 and dean wareham at 830

i don't know that dean will every return to dc if he can't get a certain turnout at $15…..not unless it was a LUNA reunion..

he's just one of those guys i have to support if i can…like i said though, dean would be at kraftwerk… luna even covered neon lights..
The last Luna show at the 930 Club is up there as one of my favorite 930 memories…
