Magic Numbers / The Elected Rollcall

Anyone? Personally I find the Magic Numbers CD very catchy but that may just be me…
I'll be there. I haven't heard any Magic Numbers yet, but the Elected album is nice.
Charlottesville.
their CD is ok, but not enough to tempt me out on a school night
I'm curious about how they are live, while there are a couple dud tracks on the CD I suspect this maybe the time to see them live in case their popularity goes through the roof.

Forum meetup between bands?
I'll be there. I have been waiting several years to see the Elected.

They were better Tuesday then they were back in November. They are not an exceptional live band, but are very serviceable and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

As for the Elected, they played less then 30 minutes at the Charlottesville show which I thought was disappointing.
I was at the Charlottesville show too, they were great. Agree with Julian, they were better than they were at DAR. Yes, it's catchy pop, but they also rock out on a few tunes and they're just very fun. Nothign earth shattering, but different.

I missed the Elected.

Actually, I'd say they pretty much are an exceptional live band.

November's show at DAR didn't do them justice. Few bands I've seen seem to enjoy performing as much as the Numbers and it makes for a really satisfying show.

Sounds good, if we can find each other. I'm getting there right at 8:45 and leaving as soon as Magic Numbers ends (maybe even mid-set) – I've got an 8:00 a.m. flight out of Dulles tomorrow morning.

I saw Magic Numbers at SXSW, and they were good, but not phenomenal. Although it was interesting – many folks who saw them thought they were realy great. To me, their live performance is just about the same as their album – good stuff, doesn't blow me away but it's catchy and I enjoy it. They may not be high on the Bags' playlist a year or two from now, but I'm sure they'll stay in the iPod.
If the club isn't jam packed I suggest meeting up left of the south booth or in the backbar…
I was also at the Charlottesville show. But when Blake asked for the time after being on stage for a few songs, that let me down. Blake is a rock star live. I just wished Daniel Brummel toured with them. Mike Bloom looked like a porn star up there with his leather jacket!

Magic Numbers' a fun band. Nothing impressive as already stated.

But more Elected would have made my night. See you at 930!

Let's stay upstairs so we can appreciate the DJ. ;) (And I don't even know who it is, though obviously not Kosmo!)
i believe ravedubin is on the wheels of shiny plastic tonight… trust me i asked for this one :D
How does one get to DJ between sets at a show? Is it all employees?
well the process varies… but at the moment no new djs are being added to the roster.

Don't worry, I didn't want to do it, I was just asking.
I'll be there! I really like the Magic Numbers CD and their "Hymn for Her" EP even moreso. I'm less enamored with The Elected CD, but I like it too. I'm looking forward to seeing both bands perform live. I do wish the concert wasn't the same night as The Gossip concert at the Black Cat though. I love The Gossip, but their latest album is disappointing, so I'm going with the 9:30 Club show instead.

I'm definitely interested in meeting up with others from the forum tonight. I've met Bags and I bought a Cedars EP from Fico and that's about it. Kosmo and I live a few blocks from each other, and we've never met, so let's rectify that. Where are we meeting? I'm not clear on where the "south booth" is. Is that upstairs near the DJ?
that should be sound booth…
The three tours I was most excited about this spring (Jenny Lewis, The Gossip, and The Magic Numbers) all hit DC on the same night. The plan is to hit the Birchmere and the Black Cat tonight and catch the Numbers at TLA Saturday night. Thank God Philly is close by.
