wow, you posted twice just to tell people you were going to a concert. must be important. maybe it will be the post's rumour of the week.
I'll be on the lawn. Very excited for this, I haven't been to a large show with three bands that I actually like in a long time.
I'm there…will be in Club 932 for
Modest Mouse as they basically drive me nuts. Will wear my 9:30 Club button.

Seats are Left Orch, Row FF
Lawn here as well.
Ill be there as well, cant remember the seats though
I picked up tickets in the center section row T on ticketmaster earlier today. I think there are still similar seats available right now if anyone still needs tix.

Wouldn't miss it. I'll be right down front. I saw them in Raleigh last night. Johnny Marr, Don Dixon and Mitch Easter all sat-in. Great mix of old and new stuff. Can't wait for tonight.
I'll be there tonight.

Raleigh setlist.

Oh man, how incredible.
So a couple thoughts on the REM show.

1) the National were good good! Its nice to see an opening band win over hundreds of fans in the course of 30 minutes. When they went on, about 12 people stood up…when they went off, about 2000. cool.

2) Well, I figured out that I really dont like very many bands who dont "sing". Modest Mouse falls into this category…so does Jon Spencer, Sleater-Kinney, Nick Cave….I just cant stand it. Johnny Marr was alright though and man does that singer SWEAT!

3) Michael Stipe may be like 55 but he still acts 30 and thats pretty cool.

4) REM has so many damn songs its like they played for 2 hours and still had like 20 songs off the top of my head i can remember them not playing!

5) Stipe kicked me in the head when he was sitting on the subwoofers next to the stage.

6) One of the guys in the band now looks like Jerry Garcia.

7) When Stipe pulled out the Obama button (he was nice enough to wait to get campaign-ey til the end, half of the crowd boo-ed. Yes, Michael, most of your fans are now old enough that they only care about themselves and vote Republicsn. :)

In the pit. Tons of boos.
oh old people.

if it's any indication of the crowd - I got these texts from a friend across the pit:
"in the row in front of us i think there are swingers. there are five couples all over 45 and i think they will watch REM and then go home and have sex with each other. i think they are the cast of that new cbs show 'swingtown'"

and a little later:
"i'm sorry you don't have swingers in front of you. i see capri pants, sequins and an eye patch"
amazing show, Let Me In was phenomenal, (Dont Go Back To) Rockville a highlight, I cant vote in this country, but when that Obama pin appeared in the screen, I cheered my lungs out.

Man, if work weren't…well, work, I'd LOVE to go.

Some thoughts on thoughts here:

- Stipe is only 48. Folks still are, like, alive and doing well at 48.

- There was no way I could make it for The National, but glad they hopefully made new fans and were well received. They deserve it.

- Jerry Garcia dude is Scott McCaughy, who was in the Young Fresh Fellows (which certainly comes off as ironic based on his appearance) and now is in the Minus Five with Buck, and the Venus Three with Buck and Robyn Hitchcock. He's been the fifth member of REM (both in the studio and on the road) for a long time. Maybe 10 years?

- Crowd was pretty interesting. Very into it, which is all I really ask.
