So is this a catered affair or bring something? Still no word on anything like a secrete santa (as written by someone in college).

Do we go to the back/side door to get in?

Or something…
Do we get to meet Seth? I've got an Exit Clov press kit with his name on it!

Quick rundown of how it works.. Let's say there's 30 people. Everyone draws a number. #1 has to open a wrapped gift from the pool. #2 can either take #1's or open another gift.. etc etc. That's why it sucks to be #1 because you may get stuck with a really crappy gift. It gets super fun when the fight is on for the best gift in the pool.
I just heard about this for the first time last night…The one difference being that #1 gets to go both first AND last, so still ends up with the premiere pick.

But given that in this case many people would not be excited by many of the CDs it would be harder for the huge fight to come about. I could see everyone in the end taking their own gift home as they got something they would love to have themselves.

the chinese auction format sounds fun… who wants to set the guidelines. one new cd? book? dvd? set a dollar limit and have the option to go trolling for used stuff?
How about the standards of $5 - $20. I was thinking of a stack of 10 dollar CDs…Or a copy of a favorite book or two (undogeared).

Hey Kosmo, I'm missing the gathering, but will be at both WSC and Carlsonics (if there are people in town going!). Have no idea what I'm wearing because I may not get home to change after work…. If Lulu, Mark, Pollard are there, they can piont me out.

OK, I'll make the call here, the Rules of our Secret Santa. $10 worth of music, doesn't matter if its one disc or ten, but keep it all together. We draw numbers and first person takes a gift. The second person can either pick another gift at random, or just take a gift from one of the prior people's selections, causing the prior selctee to pick another gift. This goes on till the last person picks, and everyone is happy, or not.
Board members and guests can participate, but you have to bring the $10 worth of merchandise, or else you're just watching. One side note, we should make as much of an effort as we can to avoid getting someone stuck with something they already have, perhaps by trading off at the end of the affair. But knowing this group, it would scare me if I saw more than a CD or two I own.
Does this work for everyone? It's only $10.
I know Paige, Bagster, and flawd aren't coming, but is mostly everyone else coming? 20 to 30 folks, including guests?
