Ulrich Schnauss Roll Call

i hear he plays on a really sweet laptop. that's the main reason i'll be there (that, and the chance to spill beer on callat's black hoodie. the opportunity to meet azaghal would be a bonus).

7.6, 6.9, 5.4… a little better than a "meh". but you're right, still not approved. brooklyn vegan seem to approve him, tho.

pix (OMG, he totally does have a tricked out lappy… i made that shit up!)
Will this be the most boardie-filled Snailhook show ever?
He is playing Saturday night in Baltimore and they sell tickets at brownpapertickets.com

The venue is http://www.themetrogallery.net/

quite possibly. i think the previous record was the DMBQ show, in the studio above the garage on Eye St NE. i could be wrong tho.

Beirut may have topped this.

pretty close, we'll see what final turnout for friday is.
How the hell did you do that?
that was freaky
I am a maybe for this Friday's Ulrich Schnauss show.

(It's not sold out, is it?)
No advance tickets.

You'll probably have to get there early, though.

I'm thinking of showing up at around 8.

Doors aren't until 9:30. You really think you're going to need to stand outside an hour and a half ahead of time?
Ahh…thought they were earlier.

I'll get there at 8:30-9 then.

And downstairs will most likely be open at around 8 anyway.
Review/pics of last night's free NYC show up on brooklynvegan.
Any info on set times for Friday's show?
Snailhook will probably post them but I think he's on tour w/ Kohoutek until tomorrow.

would it really have killed you to include a link? you obviously had the page up in front of you… now dozens of people have to go through the motions of typing the url :p

people really seemed to be rawkin' out at the NYC show:

per the comments section: at least one guy managed to get some oral sex in during the show

nothing other than what's on the velvet's website:

Friday 06.27.08
Ulrich Schnauss, Auburn Lull, Screen Vinyl Image, Luxa
Doors 9:30pm/Show 10pm/21+/ $10

4 acts starting at 10… it's going to be a late night.
I thought about it but I had already closed the page.
If all goes as planned, I'll be there for all 4 bands. Should be a good night.
Trust me, as somebody that's worked at a small venue with an in house ticketing system, it can be a big hassle - you've got to train people on the system, you've got to be able to troubleshoot it late at night when something goes wrong, you have to have people that can take a ticket order by phone if the web system is down, etc etc…. I'm not saying it isn't worth doing, but I definitely understand why most venues of that size (IOTA/Velvet) don't want to deal with it.

Additionally - those services come with fees, which people complain about. For venues that are already operating on really slim margins, it doesn't make sense to add an additional cost so the few shows that might sell out in advance can benefit…
well said and exactly why we don't use a ticketing agency. we probably sell out once every three or four months, so it is not worth having advance tickets. it is too much of a pain to deal with and we are running a shoestring operation.
i understand your position, but it just sucks for events like this … i'm probably not going to be able to make it tonight because people i'm going out with won't be able to get there until 11pm or so … there's no way to buy extra tickets at the door and pass them back when my friends get there, right?
