The Gutter Twins

The whole "this album is better than that one" argument is pointless anyway. To each his own. Personally, I can go from Whigs to Twilight Singers without batting an eyelash.

I see there are a lot of Dulli-philes out there…
Last night I was listening to the Gentleman B-sides, some of which are especially comforting during the low points in a relationship (ie: last night was one of those times for me).

Yeah, Dulli has gotten big, he hides his gut well with his clothes but you can't hide a double chin. I think it probably helps to make him look younger, though. And yeah, he's still sexy, but then my dad was overweight and so is my fiancee…hmmm…maybe I have a fetish. heheh
My fiancee's comparable gut doesn't stop him from joking about how many subs Dulli eats in a night…
Thanks for the heads up on this. It slipped past me somehow. I need to see if it's came into the station yet. Good stuff.
Burning, how was the Amsterdam show?
I can't wait for this show. Though, the last Twilight Singers show at the Black Cat was my least favorite show I have seen them do. I love it when the do the encore of Whigs songs and close the night out with Faded. That might be one of greatest songs ever. Also, the track, Cigarettes, from Dulli's "solo" album called Amber Headlights just kicks ass.
Did anyone ever see the "120 Minutes" that Greg Dulli and Donal Logue hosted? They were obviously drunk or stoned or both and it was highly entertaining. Especially when they recreated "The Godfather." Good times.

Brian
Gregg Dulli's two best pieces or art are "Gentleman" and the cover of the Twilight Singers' "Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair."

Well, I just got back yesterday and the trip was surreal. I have to say I fell in love with the city, the people especially-it was very easy to make new friends. :)
As for the show it was of course thrilling, but not as good as the previous Twilight Singers shows. The club was so smoky it gave me a chest cold (everyone there smokes cigs which I don't get with the availability of other things) and the sound was not the best. The boys got off to a rocky start but got into their groove after a song or two. The highlights for me were the Lanegan-heavy Methamphetamine Blues and Seven Stories Underground. The biggest disappointment was the lack of connection with their audience. Mark was his usual stoic self and Greg seemed to be staring out into nothingness the whole time. His hand gestures were a bit over the top as well.
Still, I doubt this will deter me from seeing them again in DC. They should be a bit more comfortable by then….
Saw the GTs again on Monday night, this time in my home city. Really great show and lots of great energy from the crowd. One of the highlights for me was Greg singing "Amazing Grace" and then the band going into "King Only."
Gave in…bought our tix…I et al shall be there 0320. Got the album, stickers, pins…perhaps autographs soon? ;) Sounds great in 5:1 but nothing tops it live.

He looked good when I saw him last week (Thursday and Friday). Dude can still make the girls swoon and there were plenty of guys at the show saying, "I'm not gay but…" :D
I was gonna say he doesn't look bad in the new Spin, but on second thought creative lighting does wonders to the waist.

Those guys were actually gay… ;)
Really digging this record & looking forward to the show this week. You going Mr Brennser?

Anyone got a link to complete lyrics for Saturnalia?
Barring any kiddie meltdowns I plan on being there

Regardless of waistline, his face certainly isn't anything to get too excited about either.

But he's a brooding, damaged artist.

He's a bad boy, and bad boys are sexy.

Except that he should have outgrown that by now.

Can someone explain this more in detail? What kind of specific lighting motif can one use to appear thinner?

I remember in Clueless, Cher was worried she'd stepped into some bad lighting and that was why Christian didn't want to sleep with her, but once it was discovered he was gay, I stopped considering the possibility. This is definitely something I'd like to know more about, though, if it's real.
While that kind of attitude works for a 21 year old in skinny jeans, I'm not sure it works for a 40 year old in a pair of Toughskin Huskies.
