if your gonna go to this one be sure to get fully baked before heading out to the show…. i recommend 450
Stupid hipster doofusess.

I saw one of the nights last year at the 9:30, and it was a PHENOMINAL rock show.

Suck it.
i saw em in NYC last year and they blew.

i was a fan for 13 years til i saw em live, and i havent listened to them since.
Haven't heard this band in years. One semester in college, must have been what,? '91? We listened to their cd quite frequently. I suppose because of that, I haven't unloaded the cd to the used shop yet. So you're saying this is no excuse to show up at the club when they come to town? Probably right, but if there is nothing else to do….
The Southern Harmony & Musical Companion and Amorica are two of the best Rock N Roll albums to come out of this country in the last 20 years.

Seeing them live: I hear it can be hit or miss…

For me it's always been a hit.
whow's the opener? I couldn't find a good thread on that forum.
Saw them at the norva a couple weeks ago. Fun show if you can live with the annoying fratboy crowd but nothing special.
i saw them in raleigh on the 12th, with robert randolf and drive by truckers opening. robert killed it . . . which led to the black crowes coming out onto a stage decorated with gigantic mushrooms and lead by a man who appears to be back on the white horse. they seem to now stretch out most songs, instead of playing a proper set scattered with tight gems from ALL albums, as if they are starting to believe the crowes are a jam band. i would even love to hear chris's "new earth mud" material thrown into the roster. sort-a, sort-a of the same-ole, same-ole is what i thought. but what do i know?
yeah, please stay away, we don't want any scenester fuckers at these shows.

also, it would really be a waste of your time, because Crowes' shows, unlike say….a strike anywhere show, people are there to hear the music. So, there won't really be any scenester networking. "you see that guy man, what a fake." "yeah, for real….hey, i need to run to the bathroom to "unfix" my hair…its looking a little too neat." "ok kewl, when does the band come on again….and what is their name?" "stroke anywhere, i think. heard they were tight."

if you don't get the ROOTS ladies and gentlemn, you don't get it at all.
Some of us don't want it.

it is almost always a hit. 1998 to 2001, now that was one big miss. 1993 to 1997, and 2005 to hopefully forever……it is one BIG HIT.

to highlight the misconceptions expressed on this forum:

1)they do not jam out every song, at least half the songs in a given set will be no more than 3-5 minutes. they balance it, spcaey pyschedlia here, a little heavy shit there, and a little rootsy alll over.

2)the crowes shows are not overrun with fratties. yes, they are present, but i've found that to be true of nearly every show i've been to. crowes' crowds are a bit of a mix really, older peeps, stoner/hippies/, yong jamband kind hippies. occassionally, a few scenesters even sneak into a show. 'Tis true, i've seen it. However, they just tell their friends they were at the coffee shop reading Bukowski.

3.)to the person that has only heard their first album in 1991, they no longer sound anything like that. it would be like hearing "please please me" and assuming that is all the Beatles are. Obviously, they rew and changed a bit.

are you really having us believe that a BLACK CROWES show will be jam-packed with people who aren't casual fans of the band?!? this show will be full of people who haven't left herndon in a year and will treat the show like a night out at a club, not a concert

you're kidding, right? just a big joke? you're trying to say the BLACK CROWES represent roots music in this country? and if we don't listen to the BLACK CROWES then we don't "get the roots"??!

hi-larious.
Hey what's wrong with corporate crap rock playing fake "Americana" music ??? LOL
d00d, if you want to hear some real roots music you should check out this kewl indie group the Kings of Leon, noone has heard of them yet, but they are the REAL DEAL

hey, i actually have 2 crowes albums and listen to them on occasion, but to fucking fetishize them as the end-all-be-all is just absurd

good one, and i don't know if you are just throwing them out there as a band you despise, or if you are likening their corporate, pseudo roots rock to the Crowes.

you listen to 2 albums, have you seen them circa 1994 to 1997, or 2005 to present?

they are not the be all or end of all roots music, obvisouly, and i neverf meant to imply that. They're not a freaking bluegrass band or blues group. what they are is an amazing band that touches on various forms of roots music in the context of rock, like say the stones in their heydey, neil young, flying burriots, byrds, etc. They also have a side that sounds more modern and heavily pyschedlic. pretty diverse, in my opinion.

corporate rock? just because they had two hits songs 16 years ago doesn't make them corporate rock. were the beatles and stones corporate rock? and really, who the fuck cares? if it is good, it is good. what about PJ and wilco? more corporate rock? DBT too? ha! or no wait, uncle tup is ok but wilco is soo corporate.

the crowd will be 40-50% crowes diehards, the rest are welcome, too. never seen a fight at a crowes show, though it does happen.
